Our third visit to Fujio Pension was even more enjoyable and we felt as if we were returning to see old friends. Kimie's cooking is simply fabulous and Takeshi is a wonderful host. Together they make a great team, ensuring their guests are comfortable, happy and well cared for. We're already planning next year's holiday and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Madarao.

Room Tip: A few rooms have a small shower/ toilet cubicle which is very useful.

My extended family and I stayed at Pension Fujio for 6 nights in late Dec 2012. Takeshi san was the ultimate host and his lovely wife is an Iron Chef contender!! - 5 course Japanese/Western meals each night of the highest quality. The breakfasts were great too!
This pension has been recently renovated and is warm, clean and inviting. Takeshi san is available any time to drive you to and from the Madarao ski area (about 3 minutes up the road but too far to walk in ski boots). The bathrooms are clean and there is nothing better than sitting in a hot ofuro whilst looking out the window at the snow covered trees. We have stayed at many pensions across Japan in ski areas and this is one of the best. We will definitely return.

We stayed 3 nights from 23-26 Dec, and enjoyed the experience tremendously. Owner Kitamura-san was extremely obliging in ensuring we had a comfortable stay, and was very attentive to our needs. The food at breakfast and dinner was really good and very well presented, and we looked forward to the meals ;) The room was not made-up during our stay, which was fine because it meant we were free to access our room anytime. A little incovenient was the bathroom which was 2 floors down, but there are toilets on every level. Our twinshare room also had a little wash basin which was very handy.

One of six guys who stayed at Fujio pension in February 2012 for 5 nights at Madaroa and Tangram.
Two ski resorts on one mountain pass - fantastic powder snow, lots of terrain and no queues.
Takeshi and his wife Kimie were excellent hosts and the food was brilliant for both breakfast and dinner. Takeshi speaks great English and drops guests to the ski fields about 5 minutes away and picks up at the end of your ski day.
The bath house is great at the end of the days skiing. Free internet access is helpful and the lounge area very relaxing and friendly.
We had twin share rooms which were very comfortable.
The meals and service here are first class and a real highlight.
Thanks Takeshi and Kimie for a very enjoyable and memorable stay

Room Tip: All the rooms were on one level that i could see and looked identical

A party of six dads on a skiing holiday from Australia stumbled accross this fantastic place to stay. Being a pension it is operated by the owner, who has been there for many years and loves this work and where he lives. His service and help to us was first class and nothing was to much bother. His wife is the chef there and what a job she does. The food is western based but we had some delightful eastern food as well. Beakfast is provided, which was eggs, a meat, toast, juice and tea or coffee. Diner was a five course meal each night and was worth the cost in itself. There is a comfortable bar area to relax after your Onsen,to recover from a gruling day on the slopes. I would highly recomend this to anyone, from families, groups or singles. Rooms are basic but very comfortable and Takeshi drops and picks you up from the resort in under 2 minutes so there is no waiting around in the cold.
