Was looking forward to a return visit to the Inn having been there a few years ago how disappointed we were, where do i start 1, rooms yes its an Inn as previous traveler said but not cheap they ARE taking hotel prices starting at £100 b&b so paying that you expect rooms to be clean sorry but dust every where, dogs hairs, holes in ceiling into loft covered in cobwebs did,nt take pics sorry my mistake but if you look at previous travelers pics its not changed any and that was 2012 !! Think pillows bedding been there from my last visit need replaced as they are well past there sell by date. Food choice not good very over priced ,was offered tomato soup 3 nights in a row surely its not hard to get ingredients to make a better choice menu there is road in to the village and this is 2014 also only 1 sweet on menu Cranachan think its been there from the Burns Supper . The location is beautiful but a badly run business with no composition so i will not be returning for a third visit think the chap that used to own it should come back was a far better place .

Room Tip: Dont get rooms near bar

Stayed here the weekend of Burns Night ie Jan 2014 , Rooms very clean and fresh looking for the establishment that it is , an INN . I live on the other side of the hill and rather that get a taxi I stayed, Staff very helpfull , Kevin the little Irish gnome and his lovely wife Katie (whom does not work there ) The scrumptious owner Sheila , very accomodating and friendly , I have noted previous comments , and have heard stories from weekend, Personally I think there personal issues and slandering going on, 1, If the rooms were dusty or cobwebs !! Why not mention when you are there ? 2. Why would you come back and stay if you were that unhappy ?? 3. If your food is not to the standard you are used to or wanted , You say so at the time ?? 4. If you want a refund on your stay or are unhappy , speak to someone at the time, Do not throw toys out of pram and slag off online unless you have photographic evidence of your accusations . The location is ideal if you are into west coast scenery any time of year, Jan tends to be cold so be prepared for weather changes and 4 seasons in a day

Room Tip: The room I had was upstairs with a great view towards the Isle of Skye

Having read one or two of the reviews I nearly never went here, I glad I ignored the couple bad ones and went with the positive , The food arrived nice and hot, choice limited as to the time of year, understandable as the costing in getting food, materials etc to Glenelg costs a lot more than south ,The rooms were nice and warm , clean and cosy, staff very helpfull , When Kevin slowed down talking , Sheila the owner very helpfull and could not do enough for us ,
Only blip was an arrogant little man from Glasgow area , whom had far too much to drink , took great delight while talking to a local , about living of the land and poaching , he kept goading him about life in the Highlands etc etc When told to shut up he then punched the local in the chest and face , The owner also got hit on her chest when trying to break them up , Would I go back , YES as long as the little drunk runt not there

Room Tip: Have room overlooking the bay , and towards Kylerhea

Don't be fooled by the friendly stafff( owner Sheila)in particular only good thing is the location room s need updated well past there sell by date and very over priced they also need to employ a good cleaner as the dust n cobwebs along with dog hairs is disgusting . Food choice is poor n expensive with dogs running around restaurant when eating very disappointing place to stay only good thing is it's in a great location

Stopped off at the pub after visiting the Glenelg Brochs ( well worth a view). Enjoyed a cosy settee in front of the fire and two beautifully tasting fish platters. The smoked salmon was great. Portions just right for lunchtime

Only a restaurant visit

The restaurant was just the bar, which was packed with locals and dogs, strangely allowed on the seats under a blanket!

Place was thick with smell of smoke from the (then) unlit fire. Pool table.

Every table is different with a sofa at one table. Beer garden nice with great views.

I have been to the bar here on two different occasions several months apart. On each the bar person continued to chat to the locals and ignored me until it suited to ask for my order. I found this unfriendly and annoying. Most unlike Scotland .

Food

Our starter - black pudding. £5.95 --At least it was Stornaway Black pudding but just one slice, an egg and a drizzle . Terrible value

Our main - haddock and twice cooked chips. Chips were OK but the batter was so limp (only half cooked) it made the excellent sized portion of Haddock hard to eat. Maybe the soft batter was deliberate but if so it just made the fresh fish undercooked and greasy and as it was put on top of the chips they were not at their best. Oh for some mushy peas - or any veg!!

Other main - veggy chili pasta. Looked like it was a heat up ready meal. No detectible chilly hit at all.

Very disappointing. They need some close competition but there is non.

Did not stay for a pudding

Going to take a trip to this wonderful part of the country on my new motorbike. The staff are very friendly and the scenery is stunning. When I was across last September the weather was good and a beer in the pub's garden went down a treat. Can't wait.
