“Superb birthday treat”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

My husband booked this hotel as a last minute birthday treat for myself - so glad he did! Could not find fault in anything. Our room was ready when we arrived slightly earlier than planned; gorgeous, clean and spacious and bottle of wine in room. Went downstairs to health suite and relaxed in pool and jacuzzi then went for dinner in the upstairs restaurant. Not much I can say about that but WOW!! Food delicious, cooked to perfection and staff so friendly. Unfortunately the fire alarm went off and we all had to evacuate but staff so efficient and even went round giving everyone foil blankets to keep warm (as it was about 9pm). Never had this at any other hotels when fire alarm went off at 2am in the winter, and even received an apology letter from manager through door next morning.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about visiting and can't wait to go again myself!!

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my husband and 3 year old son and had a great time. The hotel staff were great, very friendly and helpful. We tried to dine our first night In the hotel bar but got told we had over an hour wait, a little disappointed as our 3year old wanted his tea and as ever he wanted it now! However staff did manage to accommodate us and thankfully we were served in a different bar. The hotel is very comfortable and our family room was a good size, however it would have been nice to have had a small fridge in our room for my son like previous q hotels we have stayed at. We used the pool on a couple of occasions and it was never to full thou this May have been the times we were there! Thou I did feel on our first visit the pool area wasn't very clean but this May have just been due to it been heavily used during the day as when we visited the following morning it seemed much better!
Overall we had a lovely stay very relaxing and although two coaches of what appeared to be a junior football team arrived we had a quiet undisturbed sleep.

Room Tip: Make a reservation if you want to eat in the hotel- even the bar area.

Attended a two day weekend conference at the Westerwood recently, staying two nights.
I was delighted with my room - clean, spacious and very quiet. Think the extra double doors separating the bedroom from the door to the corridor must greatly help reduce noise. My bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, with both a bath and shower cubicle was more than adequate.
I enjoyed all my meals, especially the fantastic spread at breakfast time. Wow, what a choice!
I did not use the hotel pool or spa treatments so obviously can't comment. But I found the bar, dining room and large function room to be attractive, clean and well maintained. The service from all the staff (most of them young) I encountered during my stay could not be faulted - they were very friendly, polite and helpful.
All in all I had a fantastic stay at the Westerwood and look forward to returning.

Room Tip: This is a large hotel with a very long (will it never end) corridor. Anyone with mobility problems s...

Two night stay with family. I had emailed hotel before arrival as it was hubbys birthday and we got a fabulous family room, spacious, two double beds and a birthday card and bottle of red wine. A nice gesture. Corridors are long getting to the room but kids loved the adventure and it did not put us off. Breakfast was beautiful enough choice for everyone, very busy on Sunday morning but that is expected in most hotels. Very clean hotel and staff all very mannerly. Kids especially loved the leisure facilities and staff were seen cleaning the pool area which was reassuring. I would advise booking of spa treatments before arrival as I could not get an appt, very busy with spa break guests. Golf course windy but good please pre-book a buggy before arrival. Would definitely recommend and will return in the future.

We've passed this many a time off the Motorway, been to a wedding many years back, but used this a a convenient meeting point with friends from the Manchester area. The hotel deal was very good and the location was great to be able to get to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Perthshire. It made it so easy to get to the attractions we wanted to visit with the children.

Rooms were of a great size with children and separate shower in the bathrooms always a big plus for us!

Pool area good, the boys enjoyed it.

Food was very very good, I'll review Flemings separately as it would put a lot of places to shame for the quality and the non ridiculous prices.

Well worth it and fully recommend.

Quite simply, the Westerwood delivered some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. OK, so the rooms are good and the location is pleasant enough, but it's the friendly and helpful manner of the staff that makes this hotel stand out from the many others I stay in each month.

Had mixed feelings about the Westerwood on arrival due to the problems I had encountered when trying to book our spa treatments and on the cleanliness of one of our rooms, however, these problems were quickly rectified by the very helpful duty manager Rafal Czech, who even went as far as to fix the shower in our room himself. The rooms were spacious and beds very comfortable. The meals were lovely, especially the buffet breakfast which included square/ slice sausage. The only complaint we had with the restaurant was that on the Saturday night, 2 of the 6 desserts were not available. All staff were very friendly, especially Danielle from the restaurant and spa. We all enjoyed our spa treatments and would recommend the Relaxing Face and Back Ritual as well as the Pedicure. We have signed up for the Q Hotels breakaway club and would
certainly stay at the Westerwood again!

Room Tip: Although we had a room overlooking the car park, it was very quiet.

Dear WeeLauraM,

Thank you for taking the time to write your lovely review on Tripadvisor.

It's great to see a few of the team's names being mentioned, we will certainly ensure that they are recognised for making a difference during your stay.

Please accept my apologies re the shower, we have a preventative maintenance schedule in place to try and ensure that our guests don't experience any maintenance issues, however unfortunately on occassion things do fail, it's great to read that Rafal resolved the issue quickly and that it didn't affect your overall stay.

Please keep us in mind for any furture visits to the area as we would eb delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you back.

Sincerely

Paul Bray
