Behind Shintetsu train station and a short bus ride from the Shinkansen station. Near shopping maul and very good supermarket in the station. Near Temples. We mainly came to see the Azaleas blooming towards end of April and were enthralled. Went outside town to the Kurume Forest Azalea Park at 299 Miimachi. Google Maps suggests a local busride to end of town and then a walk through the woods up and around the mountains. Took us about 3 hours to get there after getting a bit lost and not finding a soul in sight for direction. We couldn't understand any of the few eventual road signs. Finally another Japanese walker showed us the way. Certainly worth the visit!!!' We asked for a taxi from town to get back to our hotel. The hotel is ok but the English al most non-existant. They can't answer any questions so we have to solve it all vía an iPad. Everything else is fine, the check-in time a bit late (16h).
