Our Kobe hosts took us up to Muragen, where we enjoyed a most exceptional luncheon experience. Every detail about this place is an aesthetic masterpiece. This is a must visit restaurant to experience the highest quality soba noodle dishes.
The hilltop setting of this establishment makes it very unique - from what I could see, one can only drive to their remote location. The stunning new and minimal Japanese architecture and design of the restaurant adds to its zen charm.
If you are into architecture and design, I recommend visiting here for lunch - they only serve lunch - after touring Yodoko Guest House, i.e., Yamamura House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. After lunch, take another short drive to see the Rokko Apartments, designed by Tadao Ando.
