“Ouketsu – a National Natural Monument in Miyakonojo City”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

The falls consisted of 3 parts - the large fall (Ootaki) of 18 meters high which could closely be viewed by walking over the suspension bridge. Then there were a Male Fall (Odaki), and a Female Fall (Medaki). The potholes (Ouketsu) at upstream were formed by pebbles and rocks gushing from the foot of Kirishima mountains.
We visited the place on a weekday and all food outlets were closed.

“One of the best falls out here”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

This is one of the biggest falls out in this area. There are many waterfalls in the Kirishima mountain range, but this is one of the highest rated. It is most famous (according to the signage) for it's pot holes at the top of the waterfall. You can walk out on a bridge to take photos, but I suggest also taking a walk up and around the back of the waterfall. There is a spot up there that has some nice Maple trees in November, but the pot holes at the top of the fall are the best. You can walk out on to them if you are careful! The whole place is pretty beautiful but I don't know of any public transport to it. I always drive my car.
