“Excellent. Home away from home”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

At the Manor is a Stunning old manor house in a beautiful little village.
Simon (owner) met us as we were parking. Showed us around the huge communal lounge/kitchen area and then advised that we had been upgraded to the 4 poster room as we were the only ones staying on the Monday night! Awesome room. Really comfortable king sized 4 poster. En-suite bathroom with a really powerful shower and underfloor heating. Amazing views!! As we were the only ones there that day we had sole use of the lounge and kitchen also.
Simon is a stupidly nice chap and made us feel so at home. He was even kind enough to find us some Anbesol when my 5yr old was having trouble with her teeth. These little things really mean a lot!
We had a great nights sleep and a superb breakfast!
They do a big trade with hen and stag parties but this place is perfect for anyone from couples to large groups! You're only 15mins from Longleat, Bath and there are numerous awesome looking villages, pubs and attractions close by!
Thanks so much! :)

Room Tip: WiFi is incredibly slow. Tip - there is really fast free WiFi at the George Inn (5minute walk) - per...

My husband and stayed here for 1 night whilst we were in the area as we were off to Longleat the following day. Simon was very welcoming although I would say that it's not particularly easy to work out where to park and unless you know what the house looks like it's not clear that you've arrived. However those are minor and more pointers for people who are staying.

My review is a full 5 star! It was comfortable, clean and spacious. We were lucky to be upgraded to the 4 poster room as we were the only residents that night, and had an extra bed for our daughter. We had use of the the lounge and kitchen too and it was like a home from home.

Simon made sure that we were well looked after and gave us local knowledge of the area and made recommendations for where to eat/drink. He also shared his experience of longleat which was very helpful.

I'd recommend this lovely B&B! :-)

Staying At the Manor was like being at home (just not my home...I wish!). It was cozy, comfortable, and the owners make you feel at ease. They are the very definition of hospitality. The accommodation is spacious and has everything you need, televisions in every room, decent temperature control, the best bedding, high quality bathrooms, and, as others have pointed out, our hosts were thoughtful enough to have stocked the kitchen with excellent bread, muesli, butter, tea...the basics in case you don't manage to go to the store right away. The only minor thing is the internet service is poor.

It was an easy journey on a Park & Ride to Bath, while having the tranquility of a country manor on a weekend when Bath is packed to the gills.

Can't wait to go back!

We recently spent 3 nights in the 'Monks Retreat', with our children 8&6. We were struck by how beautiful the house is & its idyllic setting. There was plenty of parking, and we received a very warm welcome from Sarah. The apartment was very stylish spacious clean and full of character, and we really appreciated the wine and breakfast items that Sarah had ready and waiting for us. Couldn't fault anything, highly recommend !

We hired the wing of this beautiful house for a Hen Party last weekend (12/13 July 2013). We were not disappointed. The rooms are all very good sizes (many of them are en-suites) and there is a large sitting room/dining room which is perfect for large groups. Sarah had thoughtfully left us some milk, wine and chocolates to get us going and was very helpful and accommodating at all times. There is a gorgeous little garden at the back which can also seat up to 14 people and plenty of parking. It really was the perfect venue for a hen do.

We just rented the whole house for 12 adults over our wedding in June, and stayed for ten days.
Sarah was amazing from the outset, nothing was too much trouble from setting up the rooms for our requirements to printing boarding passes. We were even invited to the local village jig the pig.
There was all the things you don't usually expect to find in a self catering house from dishwashing liquid to salt, pepper, tea, coffee, milk etc and to top it off prosecco and chocolates on arrival.
All the rooms are spacious and well decorated as are the bathrooms.
The house is well suited to big groups, you all feel as though you have space and the village is gorgeous, you feel part of the village but yet you are close enough to Bath if you fancy going into the city.
Would highly recommend and would love to go back!

My brother-in-law booked this house on a whim as part of our attempt to stay away from hotels.

From the moment we had our first interaction with Sarah, she was nothing less than professional and extremely accomodating with us. With the short notice of our stay (next day), she didn't require the normal security deposit, and when we were lost, she provided some easy directions and met us out front when we arrived.

Sarah had a small sampling of kitchen items for us, including cereal, milk, bread, sugar, coffee, butter and a few other items. All were greatly appreciated as we didn't get to the local grocery store until the next day.

The kitchen has a neat little door that you don't immediately recognise when you walk in, and has a dishwasher, stove, oven and fridge. A kettle, toaster and all the utensils are present as well.

The diningroom table is massive - fits probably 10 people easily. The livingroom has 3 large couches and a fireplace.

There is TV in each room, along with all the channels you would need. Each of the bedrooms has an ensuite, and the master has a tub with a massive bathroom and heated floors (so I'm told by my mother and father-in-law, as they secured the big room).

We were provided with firewood on our stay, but if you plan to burn more than a few hours, try and pick some up at the grocery store for a few pounds a bundle.

The George Inn and The Fleur de Lys are both local pubs that offer a great selection of real ale pubs and some great local company who are always willing to provide you with some travel advice, beer advice or just general chit chat.

To sum it up, the Manor was a great place with a ton of space for everyone, from a couple to a family of 5 adults.

We loved your house, Sarah, and when we make our way back one day, we'll look you up again.
