We stayed at Monk's Retreat in May with our two boys (3) and (18mths), talk about an idyllic location with a building steeped in history. The apartment had everything we needed to accommodate the kids, high chair, cot, kids books, toys, dvds. A lovely playground just a short stroll across the church meade! Only a short drive to Bath and set in a lovely village with a great old coaching inn for great food and of course various beers. The countryside is utterly unspolit and the local people take amazing pride in their properties.

Longleat Safari Park is also just a short drive and the kids loved it. Sarah has discounted tickets for sale at the house beneath the apartment.

We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly return. One word of warning though is the stairs up to the apartment is very steep and quite high, so care is needed if travelling with little ones and a lot of heavy luggage.

This self catering accommodation was well in excess of what we were expecting - the kitchen was exceptionally well equipped for a holiday cottage and even inlcluded a dish washer and tumble dryer. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The cottage was spacious and was well furnished and clean.
We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it to others.

From the initial call to book, through to wishing us safe onward travels, the service was excellent - Sarah could not do enough to help. We had our 9 month old girl with us and as an example Sarah made special arrangements to get the right milk for her.

The english breakfasts were very nice, good quality ingredients and cooked to order, the earliest available time for breakfast was 8:30 which is ideal for leisure stays, but may preclude some business customers.

The room was excellent, quiet and very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable (meant to have a look at the label actually to see who made it). Really nice power shower, and although there was no window in the bathroom, no problems with condensation etc. LCD TV with integral DVD player was available which would be good for the kids if the weather was bad. Space for a travel cot, or Sarah offered to provide one. Access to the rooms is via a spiral staircase and a few further steps to navigate through the landings to the rooms.

Location is in a quiet village that has a couple of good pub/restaurants, and although not obvious from the roadside the B&B has ample free parking at the rear. Easily drivable to Longleat and Bath.

We really enjoyed our time there and would have no hesitation in returning should our travels bring us somerset way again.

We stayed here for one night on the way to London from Scotland.
After being greeted so warmly, and seeing the quality of the room we were seriously tempted to stay where we were for the whole of our holiday.
