Bath Lodge Castle

Recently stayed in the castle with my fiancé and found the whole stay very relaxing and was a unique experience. Hosts were very friendly and helpful, and the service was second to none. Only 10 minutes from bath town, the lodge is easily accessible.
Decorated to a very high standard with one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. Cooked breakfast in the morning was great with a variety of different options.
We will defiantly be staying here again! Large and beautiful grounds means lots more to explore!
Thanks to the hosts, Alan and Matthew for your hospitality.

With a big birthday looming, I looked for a suitable venue in which to celebrate with friends.

The criteria: an interesting, imposing and stylish building, high standard ensuite accomodation for sixteen people, a dining room able to seat sixteen, ability to handle the catering for a black tie dinner, and potential stimulating daytime excursions.

We looked around and Bath Lodge Castle matched all our criteria:

A converted early Victorian gate lodge, complete with crenellations and turrets, fitted-out to a very high standard in both public rooms and ensuite bedrooms, with a large and imposing dining room, plus hosts skilled as hoteliers and caterers, and all fifteen minutes' drive from the Georgian splendour of Bath.

And in practice it more than lived up to its promise - the icing on the cake being the superlative hosts in the persons of Matthew and Alan. All in all a suitably memorable experience which was over all too quickly. We all vowed to return for a New Year or any other excuse we can find to do it all again soon.

If you want to mark a special occasion with close friends, I cannot recommend Bath Lodge Castle too highly

We hired the whole house to celebrate a big birthday with friends and it worked really well.
All the rooms are lovely, very little to choose between them and the hosts Matthew and Alan were attentive without being obtrusive. The dining room was perfect for 16 of us and there aren't many houses that can seat that many around a table.
Bath is close enough to do day trips and there are lots of lovely pubs nearby.
The only con would be the road noise but I don't think it detracted from everyone's enjoyment of the weekend. Great place for a big get together.

This could have been the perfect place to stay.

A 16th century hunting lodge with a (I think) 20th century addition to it. All built in local stone.

A magnificent garden of serveral acres with a jacuzzi, sauna and bamboe shower tucked away in the garden.

And what a friendly people. Jane and Youssef who received us and Barry who took over from them. Personal service. You instantly feel at home.

The Bath Lodge Castle is a high Quality B&B and this shows.

Immaculate rooms, splendid breakfast and service.

Only one negative and that is the main road at 20 yards from the building.

I know there isn't much one can do about this but it not appealing to spent too much time outside because of the noise.

But then again, once you are inside..... Perfection.

Took the whole lodge for important Chinese business visitors. Superb, roomy accommodation. Well appointed and plenty of charm. Breakfast provided was as good as it gets and Gwyne ( House keeper) made us feel completely at home. Fast free wireless works flawlessly. Just a little close to the main road, but really did not detract. Handy for Bath, easy to find.

If you want to seriously impress your US or Asian clients, this Castle Lodge hits the spot!

Highly recommended
