“Great for 1 night”
Reviewed 1 June 2013

We stayed for 1 night and we loved the location and was right by a lovely pub.The only thing I will say is the rooms are dated and our mattress was so uncomfortable that we had trouble sleeping.I agree with the other comments regarding how lovely the owners were:) But we would not choose to stay here again. Our room was quite dark and we felt not very cosy or comfy.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we had a family wedding close by. The yellow four poster room was lovely and the 16th century house was wonderfully quirky. Breakfast was great and set you up for the day. Steph and Giles really work hard to keep everyone happy and you only have to ask if you need anything.
We ate at The George on the night we arrived and that was lovely. The old pub is really full of character.
The walks around the village are really pretty after the good breakfast.
Even though we were there for a wedding we would definitely recommend The Plaine as an excellent base for Bath and all the many attractions in the area and would certainly stay again if we were in the area.

Me and my partner stayed here for a few nights as a base near to bath and longeat. As our first time in a b&b we were a little sceptical but it didn't let us down. The owners are so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Room was nice but could do with updating a little, tv is very old but nothing major. 2 very nice pubs opposite to the b&b to eat in or a 20 minute drive into bath. Near to longleat which was fantastic. Car park is very small but if no spaces they immediately let us know we could park at the pub opposite which was fine. Had a great stay here.

We had a fantastic 3 day stay here. Steph and Giles obviously work really hard, but always seem to have a smile on their faces and couldn't do enough for us. The room was large, quirky (it's a 16c house after all) and perfect. As has already been said, their breakfast's were brilliant and a great way to start your day. The two village pubs were great and a good place to end the day after exploring Bath itself. If you are travelling into Bath city centre, I would recommend using the park and ride (only 10mins from Bath) rather than using the car. We would definitely recommend staying here if you can, and we hope to return soon.

Room Tip: The large room at the front of the house is directly on a main road. However, this really didn't...

Fantastic B&B: warm welcome from owners who couldn't do enough for guests throughout their stay. Our room was absolutley stunning. Breakfast was brilliant in the dining room brimming with character. The village is steeped in history with two historic pubs literally metres from B&B. Location is superb-travel into Bath city centre by car in 15mins or bus directly outside B&B. Strongly recommend it,worth every penny-we'll definitley be going back!

A B&B with old world character, run by a couple full of life and character.
The building dates back to the 16th century,so yes, it's old, but has a charm and a friendly feel as does the village and the people.
We really appreciated the wonderful, hot shower at the end of a full day of "touristing", and the amazing coffee, cooked breakfast and travel advice for our next day.
.... And thanks Steph for the therapudic laughs and giggles. :)

Steph and Giles are a lovely couple, as are all the people I came across in the village .
Having just read "richardf"s review of the Plaine...I can't understand what he is bleating on about ! How he can say the B&B is the "Worst place he has ever stayed at"...is beyond me....
The towels were not "old and worn"....they were fine...the tv certainly wasn't 20 years old.....and with regard to "all the little things were missing"..well if he had bothered to read the card in the bathroom, he would have found out that the B&B were trying their best to be eco friendly,by not having loads of small over packaged toiletries etc !
Anyway....back to my review....the owners company and local knowledge was great..in fact it made the holiday...the breakfast was just right, and was locally sourced. What's not to love ?

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 1...the yellow fourposter room.......has a great view of one of the oldest inns in...
