“Go to Zeller Horn for best view of this beautiful castle”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

A beautiful and well preserved castle that sits on top of a hill. We did not join any guided tour but it was still great to just walk around the great architecture.

If you have a car, go to a place called Zeller Horn for the best view of the castle. Park your car at a hotel called Zollersteighof. There is a gravel trail from the parking lot that you can walk to Zeller Horn in about 20 minutes. The trail is pretty flat and you can push a baby stroller on it all the way. The view is absoutlely stunning!

“Great castle with views but the guides are German with no translation :(”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

This castle is awesome in structure and views. It was all offset by the rather regimental tour we had about 50 of us were herded from one room to another ( doors closed on each occasion behind us),with a tour guide who narrated in German. We were chaperoned through four large ( rather ornate ) rooms with no opportunity to look around at leisure . This is a problem if you are taking small children ( ours were 4y).The restaurant is good though with a decent selection of dishes.
Overall if you understand German and don't mind regimental tours take a look. There are a few written descriptions in English to give you an idea of things.

this place I have been after visiting for years, often seen on the German tourist brochures etc, when you arrive you park at the bottom off the mountain a shuttle bus takes you up and back again after the visit.the views on the approach to the castle are brilliant and the views from the ramparts are breathtaking, loads off guides to take you around or just ask and they are very informative, was 12euros for the admission and well worth it,even had his "nibs" thank me for visiting ,he was in a small fiat driving up through the 1st gate, was the crown princess I recognised then the prince smiled and had a quick word.all in all I loved the place.

“Impressive Castle with friendly and knowledgable guided”
Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

Visited the Burg Hohenzollern in august, when there are no formal tours, but the guides are walking around in the various halls, providing explanation, answering questions and discussing with the visitors. They are enthousiastic and knowledgable, beyond the immediate construction of the Castle.

“Great experience”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

This was our first German castle that we visited, and of course it took our breath away right when we saw it from far away in the mountains. This castle is huge! Since it is on the top of the hill, it also had a pretty awesome 360 view of the region.
We were with a 3 year old child, so the tour was a challenge, since its pretty long. I would say, if you have seen many palaces, the interior of the castle is pretty simple and you can even skip the tour. There's a museum where you can see the crown and other royal valuables without taking a tour. So you can save your time, and enjoy the amazing views. There's also a restaurant where you can have lunch, just not sure how the food is there, since we did not have anything from there.
