This castle is awesome! Great option for those who are close to Hechingen. There are guided visits inside the castle both in German and English.

Thank Pedro F

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

Beautiful views, very nice castle, price a bit steep for what you get.
Spent a couple of hours here with a family of 5 (2 teenagers and child of 6). It was very nice but difficult to squeeze more than 2 hours out of the visit which isn't brilliant value after 25 Euro for family. In addition, the car park is either a 25 minute climb up to the castle or you have to pay for the bus (another 6 Euros or so for a family) and they squeeze you for the car park too - so all told you're looking at over 30 Euros for a family. We got the bus up but walked down which was a good idea as the walk down is quite nice and a lot more relaxing than trying to walk up - it is steep (think it's close to 300 stairs).....
Overall though I would recommend it - there aren't too many castles if you're holidaying in the Black Forest area and the views as you approach and from the summit are stunning.

“Amazing Castle- Worth the visit”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

This is an amazing to castle to visit. This is a true fortress, built on top of a hill with multiple layers of gates and corridors to actually get to the castle grounds. We took the guided tour and it was definitely worth it. If you are in the area, do not miss visiting this castle. We were able to see the entire castle in about 2 hours.

“Go to Zeller Horn for best view of this beautiful castle”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

A beautiful and well preserved castle that sits on top of a hill. We did not join any guided tour but it was still great to just walk around the great architecture.

If you have a car, go to a place called Zeller Horn for the best view of the castle. Park your car at a hotel called Zollersteighof. There is a gravel trail from the parking lot that you can walk to Zeller Horn in about 20 minutes. The trail is pretty flat and you can push a baby stroller on it all the way. The view is absoutlely stunning!

“Great castle with views but the guides are German with no translation :(”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

This castle is awesome in structure and views. It was all offset by the rather regimental tour we had about 50 of us were herded from one room to another ( doors closed on each occasion behind us),with a tour guide who narrated in German. We were chaperoned through four large ( rather ornate ) rooms with no opportunity to look around at leisure . This is a problem if you are taking small children ( ours were 4y).The restaurant is good though with a decent selection of dishes.
Overall if you understand German and don't mind regimental tours take a look. There are a few written descriptions in English to give you an idea of things.
