Owner description: Broadleaved plants and mature trees support, frame and enhance a changing collection of contemporary sculpture in the stunning garden that Hannah and Anthony created over 30 years ago. The Sculpture Garden now hosts nearly 150 pieces by 40 plus artists from Britain and the rest of Europe every summer season. There is a vast range of materials that can be shown outdoors; from the traditional carved stone & woods, cast & welded metals, to more contemporary materials such as glass and fired clay. The exhibition runs for 6 months over the summer season. The garden plays host to a number of schools, art and garden clubs, societies and other groups. Visitors often return year after year to see the ever-changing collection. The placement of the sculpture is the key aspect that makes Hannah and Anthony's garden so magical. A strong connection between art and nature is crucial; be it the way a plant frames the piece, how the piece accentuates the surrounding planting (such as the texture of the trees or the colour of the moss), or how a shaft of sunlight plays across the surface of the sculpture. In Hannah's mind, the most boring location to place a piece is in the centre of the lawn. Part of the joy is discovering pieces hidden in secluded parts of the garden; creating surprise and intrigue at every turn.

This shaded garden, on the banks of a small stream, is a real gem. Stacked with numerous sculptures, you can wander for hours, surrounded by birds, butterflies and dragonflies.
This place feel welcoming, the people are nice, and the route through the garden reveals the impressive collection of sculptures. For me: a winning combination.

We had the pleasure of visiting this place. All I can say is WOW. Friendly staff, very helpful. However, what a place, simply stunning. Amazing location, amazing sculptures.

A good place for a wander around the very beautiful gardens and sculptures. Fairly priced. Not too hilly but definitely not at all wheelchair accessible. The sculptures here are of a less monumental scale (and price) than those at other places we have been like the CASS sculpture park at Goodwood. But here its more about the sculptures sort of becoming part of the garden, and the garden becoming a sort of sculpture in itself. All very pretty. The only thing that lets the place down a bit is the lack of anywhere onsite to get a drink or snack There are spaces set aside for sitting and picnics etc and suitable spots for at least vending machines but none are provided.

Thank you for your kind review - we are very pleased that you enjoyed your visit to the Sculpture Garden.
We encourage our visitors to bring a picnic with them to enjoy in one of our seating areas, or to visit one of the fantastic local pubs for a spot of lunch. The covered downstairs area is a multipurpose area, so we do not have the space to house vending machines. We do happily provide complimentary cold refreshments from the reception area almost every open day.

We hope to welcome you back to the Sculpture Garden in the future.

One of the most beautiful experiences we have EVER had! The most exquisite art/landscape garden. Creative, tranquil, surprising, innovative, adventurous, satisfying, uplifting. Everyone should know about this magical haven - a very best kept secret! Definitely will revisit many more times especially if needing spirits to be uplifted!

The weather was idyllic for our visit, ground dry and firm, but do heed their instruction to wear suitable footwear if the ground is wet because the paths would be slippery.

Hidden away in the countryside near Ockley, the sculpture garden was such a delight. You get given a guide of the route round the gardens with some detail on the sculptures and off you go.
The gardens are beautiful with huge towering hogweeds and other plants (erm, I don't know my poppies from my pelargoniums - but even in my ignorance I could tell the gardens have been carefully cultivated. There's a mixture of wild and manicured. The sculptures range from the weird (a strange aluminium frame with neon lights) to the wonderful (too many to describe!). We wandered around under the trees and foliage as if it was our own private garden.
We were there for over three hours, but it didn't feel like it - the time just drifted by as we oohed and aahed at the sculptures, the plants and the ducklings.
I would have liked more information on the sculptures in the guide and I think they're missing a trick by not having a tea shop on site. Other than than, I will most definitely be going back - all visitors to mine will now be hauled around these wonderful gardens.
You need to wear trainers or other sturdy footwear as some of the paths are a little higgledy piggledy and there was some mud from the recent rain.

Thank you for your positive review - we are so glad you enjoyed your visit. The ducklings are quite memorising, aren't they!
We made the decision not to have a cafe on site for a variety of reasons - which I will not bore you with in this comment. We encourage our visitors to bring a picnic to enjoy in the covered seating area or the tables and chairs on the lawn, or to visit one of the many fantastic local pubs for a spot of lunch. We are more than happy to allow visitors to leave half way round to have some lunch, before returning later that afternoon to finish their walk.
We very much hope to see you and your guests in the future.
