“quiet, quaint and so very hospitable - the staff are superb”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

The hotel is comfortable, quaint, clean, homely, pretty, charming and the staff are much the same - they mostly speak only a little English but they do everything they can to be helpful and friendly. Hulya Aykurt is the only English speaking member of staff and without her the experience at the Zeytin Konak would have been far less enjoyable

The hotel has no restaurant or bar but a limited amount of snacks and Turkish 'fast' food can be provided during the day - and very well prepared and presented it is! One lady, who we almost hid in our suitcase, makes the most wonderful cakes - they are worth a visit on their own!

We were there for 10 nights and had no major problems -

So - the minor issues.....this hotel needs to sort its welcome to foreign and English speaking guests - a proper well presented welcome pack with a guide to the location of its suggested restaurants with more, detailed information about local town such as Cesme and Ilica etc, and the local market....there is a guide but it leaves more questions than it answers

The other issue - we were there for 10 days - it too the first 8 to get a working light in our bathroom - it was temporarily repaired a few times until an electrician was called and sorted 2 days before we left - lol

Overall - a most relaxing hotel, well designed, well furnished and with staff that, without exception, the owners should be absolutely proud of!

But, as I said, very special thanks to Hulya Aykurt

(I have rated Fitness Centre and Room Service as terrible purely because neither was on offer at this hotel)

Room Tip: There are three 'levels' of room - go for mid level - clean and well furnished I have rat...

Thank you for your lovely review. It makes us very happy to hear when our guests have had an enjoyable and remarkable stay at Zeytin Konak Hotel. Our staff are always here to provide our guests with the most memorable and pleasant stay. We truely appreciate your feedback as it helps us to improve our services and offers. We will incorporate more detailed information into our information sheets about the hotel’s services and better still compile a welcome pack with a comprehensive guide which seems to be what most of our foreign guests are after.
We sincerely apologise for the intermittent issues you have encountered with the bathroom lighting. The staff hadn’t realise it was an electrical issue until much later on in your stay. We are glad that we were able to rectify the issue before your departure. We thank you for your patience up until this time.
It was a true pleasure having you stay at our hotel. We look forward to seeing you at Zeytin Konak Hotel again.
Warm Regards

I stayed at this quiet attractive hotel for a week in late September whilst taking private Pilates lessons with Mareile in Alacati http://www.pilatesretreatasia.com/PilatesTurkeyHome.html. I had a bedroom in one of the 4 restored former village houses that make up the hotel and was fortunate to have a first floor room in a house with a balcony which was a lovely place to sit and read. The bedroom was comfortable and pleasingly decorated and furnished, and the ensuite bathroom and shower excellent. There are 2 open air pools and lots of loungers in delightful grounds filled with bougainvillea, and other lovely native shrubs. The Mediterranean breakfast is taken on the lovely terraced area. The standard breakfast was fresh orange juice, delicious cheeses, local preserves, bread, tomato and cucumber salad, often with a local pastry and ample tea and coffee. Eggs can be ordered but there is an extra charge which is somewhat odd given their low cost. Other simple meals such as pasta and fresh tomato sauce or cheese on toast are available throughout the day and charges are reasonable...and bottles of water are available BUT (and this is a point well made by Ratbeard's review) I was not aware that meals could be ordered throughout the day as this and other information both about the hotel's services and the town given to hotel guests is virtually non existent. The Turkish staff were pleasant and clearly hard working as the hotel and its grounds were very well maintained. However I feel I was really fortunate in that one member of staff spoke excellent English and it was she that really made such a difference to the quality of my hotel experience. It was she who gave me a town map ( from a pile behind the reception counter) recommended a few restaurants and indeed was so very helpful throughout. However I got the best guide book to the town from the bike hire shop that I discovered by accident and a lot of other information from my Pilates teacher. There was no printed information about minibuses to the beaches or to Cesme at the hotel. A fellow guest actually googled information about private trips to Ephesus and then the English speaking member of staff organised a taxi and English speaking driver for she and I. Although wifi is available in the hotel there are some areas where its not possible to get on line. So I was able to use my laptop in my bedroom, 24/7 but my fellow guest on the ground floor had to sit out in the garden ( admittedly beautiful but not so convenient if you want to do emails in the late evening).
The town centre is a 10 minute walk which is ideal and indeed it is a lovely town for eating and shopping - and the Saturday market is not to by missed. However, an on going problem in town is the number of (often large) domestic and stray dogs who accompany you on your walks. At night the walk back to the hotel can be a wee bit unsettling for people who are uncomfortable around dogs.
All in all a fabulous hotel that still needs to put together a comprehensive guide to its own services and a local guide in order to make it an excellent experience.

Room Tip: First floor bedrooms with balcony

Thank your for taking the time to write your review. We appreciate and value all feedback from our guests as it gives us an opportunity to improve the quality of our services thus providing a better holiday experience for our guests.
At Zeytin Konak Otel we have an information handout listing places to go and visit in Alaçatı and surrounding areas, including maps, general information and telephone numbers. These handouts and maps are generally given to all foreign guests during their check in. We apoligize that we have failed to do this during your check in. As for the information on minibuses, tours and private trips, we are always more than happy to provide our guests with the additional information upon request. We have realised how important this aspect is for our foreign guests therefore we will look at putting together a guest information sheet about the hotel and other useful information.
There are 2 separate internet lines set up at Zeytin Hotel to provide full coverage over the premises. However, due to the natural stone used in our buildings, some areas may have limited internet access. Sometimes it can also be the device you are using that can interfere with the signal strength. We have several outdoor and indoor communal sitting areas where guests are able to access the internet with out any problems.
Regardless of the previously mentioned, it is such a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed staying in Alaçatı and our lovely hotel. It was a delight having you here. Please remember that it is always our staffs’ and managements goal to deliver the best service to our guests to make their stay a memorable and enjoyable as one. We look forward to welcoming you back at Zeytin Hotel. Take care.
Warm Regards

Zeytin is a wonderful hotel, it feels like your own villa or own home
The staff are fantastic from the front desk to the service and the ladies in the kitchen
its very quiet and calming, not far from town and has lovely touches in the rooms, breakfast area and the gardens
breakfast is amazing very healthy and something new every morning
only small thing to add to make it perfect would be perhaps leaving bottles of water in the rooms for overnight use and maybe some bathrobes

Room Tip: stay as a couple in the Yesil cumba room

Our first visit to Alacati, and ideal accommodations for our family of 4 in their "family suite", with separate bedroom for children, quaint Ottoman balcony to sit and read at night, and many lovely windows to let the breeze in. Delightful pool in the most private of walled grounds, and an all-around peaceful and lush property. This having been said, our visit was tainted by the absolute absence of useful information for those unfamiliar with the area, much of which could have been nicely satisfied with a detailed information package in the room. "Until what time is breakfast served", where is the center of town that should be visited", "where can train tickets be purchased", "where can one access the internet (in order to make further travel plans and stay in touch with the office, etc.)", etc. In fact, so many mundane questions I was forced to ask at the front desk, that by the time a really critical issue did surface - the complete absence of water (hot or cold) in our room during the afternoons - it was clear I was becoming a nuisance to staff in the process. And the famous kitchen pastries that I had read about in multiple sources beforehand? Not a single mention of this at any point, until I actually poked my head through the kitchen window on our final afternoon and asked for slices of a pound cake I saw sitting on the counter - and then to be handed a $15 bill for this on checkout!
As a business owner and regular traveler, my most sincere advice to Zeytin management:
a) get an internet-accessible terminal where your guests can stay in touch with the world
b) put together an information package that won't leave some guests completely lost
c) upgrade your plumbing infrastructure
d) find a way to incorporate a glass of orange juice and couple eggs into your package price
You simply can't charge guests this kind of premium pricing, and then advise that there can't be any afternoon showers (or even hand-washing!) because the "guest demand for water is too high".
Ultimately, a couple structural/management changes away from making this what could have been a world-class stay for us

Room Tip: Family suite (seemingly hard to find in Turkey), is ideal four family of four, with multiple access...

Dear Sir / Madam
Thank you for staying at Zeytin Konak Hotel and for taking the time to write your review. We are sorry to hear that some of your expections weren’t met during your stay with us.
At Zeytin Konak Otel we have an information handout listing places to go and visit in Alaçatı and surrounding areas, including maps, general information and telephone numbers. We sincerely apologise for this, however, please know that we are always more than happy to provide our guests with additional information upon request.

At Zeytin Konak hotel we have several outdoor and indoor communal sitting areas where guests are able to access the internet without any problems.
The famous kitchen pastries that you’ve heard about, are complimentary to our breakfast, and are served during the majority of the week, while on other days fruit is served. We are sorry that you were’nt informed about our freshly baked cake which is available in the evenings. Unfortunately during the peak the season, with the high volume of visitors in Alaçatı, the water reserves can become low. As the comfort of our guests is very important to us, we have set up a new water plumbing sytem that will facilitate this problem and prevent water shortages in the future.
We thank you for your understanding and appreciate you sharing your thoughts and suggestions with us. Recieving feedback from our guests helps us to increase the the quality of our services and offers.

Home feeling surrounded by all happy people around, this is where Zeytin Hotel is...
I assume the name is coming from their amazing breakfast and the most delicious olives we had tasted, from the oven they serve their home made borek, Gozleme, it is simply like never ending service there... Reception and the service staff pays attention to every need, even from where you can surf or dine at its best.
Rooms are like Typical Alacati homes, so cozy and well look after.
Afternoon tea concept and the cake placed in the rooms are my favourite.Open all year round, would be lovely to come back again to feel the fire place in the living area.
Thank you Zeytin Hotel, and its owners and all the staff for making our visit so memorable.
