My sister and a friend stayed here for two nights in late June. The rooms were comfortable and well-equipped. There was a large comfortable lounge where lots of information about the local area was provided. The breakfast was very tasty and there was an excellent choice.
Our hostess Leontine was full of helpful ideas about where to go. Without her guidance we would have missed the interesting village of Saintfield where there are excellent shops (household/kitchen shop, a small shop selling beautiful jewellery made on site and very keenly priced, lots of antique shops and a couple of good coffee shops). There is lots to do in the area and we would go there again.

My husband and I stayed at the Duffering Coaching Inn last weekend (. The Inn is in the picturesque village of Killyleagh, and is just a short stroll from Killyleagh Castle one way and the shores of Strangford Loch in the other direction. (Note: the castle is a family home and not open to visitors, but is a great building to admire from the outside)

We stayed in Room F, and can thoroughly recommend it. We had a twin room (we booked late - lesson learned for next year: great places get booked up early ...) with a very spacious en suite bath room. The rooms were spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and well appointed. The beds and pillows were comfy, the towels generous and fluffy and there was always plenty of hot water. And best of all, the owner does the most fantastic Ulster fried breakfast (as well as a number of other options). There's also free wireless internet, or a computer that guests can log on to.

The Inn is right next to the Dufferin Arms - a great gastro pub, full of mementos collected over time and a fantastic menu. However, the Inn has a Supper Club on Saturdays, so you might want to build that into your plans. There is also a wonderful deli up by the castle ...

The only downside is the noise from the pubs at night (there's one opposite too) - but then, you should really be out there joining in ... !

Do go to Killyleagh - it's a lovely village in a beautiful part of the country and people couldn't be more welcoming. And the Dufferin Inn is where we'll be staying when we go back to Killyleagh next year.

Large, elegant rooms in a lovely old inn. Excellent food. It can get noisy when the pub is in full swing, and the partying goes on late into the night.

cant really add to what the other reviews have said, recommend the Irish breakfast great sausages. Attention to detail in the rooms enhanced by the friendly Pub next door. Great base to explore and the owner is very helpful with suggestions. The take away Pizza across the road though very reasonable does a very bland margherrita best to get something on it. Make sure you walk down to the Loch pity the Castle is not open to the public.

I totally endorse all the comments made previously about this accommodation. I booked 3 nights last week and another 3 this week and will certainly stay here again when back on business. As a single traveller, it is nice to stay somewhere friendly, without being intrusive. My bedroom was amazing - so large, clean and beautifully furnished. The home made bread, scones, muesli, fresh coffee and freshly cooked breakfast to order was such a pleasure after the usual large chain hotels buffet breakfasts I have to suffer regularly in England! The pub next door also does amazing food, hot, fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. The Guiness there is good too! If you are looking for accommodation in the Downpatrick area, then do not hesiste and stay here. You will not be disappointed.

This hotel's charm is matched only by the hotelier, who made us feel extremely welcome. We could find no sour notes during out visit.
The pub next door contributed to a lovely start of our Irish Tour!
