“Envisage a holiday by the bay of Policastro”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

As a group of four we spent a wonderful time at the Hotel Mediterraneo. The rooms had sea views looking towards the melting horizon. The beach location is an absolute dream surrounded by mountains, this sheltered bay was perfect to relax and chill out. We ate at the hotel restaurant and sampled the exquisite Cilento food and wine, compliments to the chef. If you want a perfect place to holiday with excellent service and attentive staff and be surrounded in luxurious comfort choose Hotel Mediterraneo in Sapri, I thoroughly recommend it!

The owners and hotel staff were so hospitable and the place is kept very well. This was a very good deal: 90 euros per night for a room with a balcony over the beach with breakfast and dinner included.
The food at the restaurant was decent.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with grape vines, fig trees, beautiful flowers and a private beach area.
My room was very nice and had a terrace overlooking the beach. The housekeeping service does a nice job of keeping the place clean, but I would advise bringing your own hair dryer as the one in the bathroom is outdated and gets too hot quickly.
Also, there is no wifi access in the rooms, only in the lobby area.
The family went out of their way to accomodate me with everything from breakfast in my room to having pizza delivered for dinner. The town is not geared toward international tourists, but the family had a friend who rented me his personal vehicle for the day.
The main part of town is an easy ten minute, beautiful walk along the promenade. You will find everything you need there, including the best gelato in the world at a little place called Carmigel.
Everywhere I went, people were happy to try to understand my poor attempts at speaking Italian, and they often tried very hard to speak english. I didn't find communication to be nearly as much of a challenge as I thought it would be.
My visit to this hotel was filled with charm and beauty and I would recommend this place to everyone.
