Ferme Saint Christophe
Reviewed 21 July 2012

After misjudging how long it would take to get to Mont St. Michel from CDG if you don't take the autoroute the whole way, it was lovely getting to the Ferme Saint Christophe! Yann is an incredibly nice and helpful host! A lovely plate of his almond gateau was awaiting us and we were famished! We were upgraded to a 2 bdrm suite and where else can 3 travelers each have their own rooms in France for €100 a night?

Our 2 bdrm suite isn't as charmante as the pictures and although a little utilitarian, everything was clean, handy and functional! wifi is available in and around the office which isn't a bad thing unless it rained as much as it did this June - but why be on the grid on vacation?

All in all the FSC was a great little gite!

Only stayed 2 nights as we were running short of time at the end of our holiday, but wished we could have spent longer here - didn't realise that this was such a lovely part of the country, with so much to see and do, plus our room at Ferme St Christophe was great! We had one of the studios and it was really spacious, with a nice size bathroom (bath with shower nozzle & hose), and a little kitchen with just about everything you would need to use while you are on vacation (we cooked here both nights). The studio is one of several self catering apartments in nicely converted old farm buildings - so quite charming, and with a lovely garden area available for guests use. The owners are very nice (as everyone has commented) and are happy to help answer questions and give you pointers on what to see and do. Apart from Mont St Michel, which is very easy to access from the Gite, it is also really nicely located for exploring the interesting and scenic local area - we did the coastal drive round to St Malo (and saw loads of lovely walks, cute fishing villages and great places to pick up oysters and mussels!); and managed to fit in a brief trip to Dinan which looks like it would be well worth spending a day in (gorgeous old buildings, castle walls, and wonderful foodie stores....). And managed to find a huge prehistoric standing stone on the way back - very Asterix & Obilix). Could have happily spent a week exploring around here....

Took us just over 4 hours from Paris to get here and it was the highlight of the trip.

We were welcomed by Yann, who answered all our questions. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed.

They also gave us a bottle of local champagne and fresh cake.... so nice !!!

Could not fault our stay!! Loved it!!

The ferme was just perfect! Location wise we could visit Mont Saint Michel every evening even after a whole day touring the larger area. Saint Malo Dinan and Dinard were all within a short car journey. Yann was the perfect host he gave us great details about the area painstakingly showing us best places and restaurants to go to, where to take best shots from. What impressed me most however was his sending an item we forgot at the ferme at his expense at our home overseas. That is hospitality! Simone Borg Malta

We just came back from Brittany, where we stayed at Ferme St. Christophe for three nights with my parents. Yann was very welcoming as he showed us our apartment and even gave us some great tips about the region and the towns of Cancale, Mont Saint Michel and St Malo.

The B&B itself was very clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. We also had a gorgeous view of the country side outside out window. The backyard had chairs and lounge chairs at our disposal, and since the weather was fantastic, we took full advantage.

This region is beautiful if you adore driving the emerald coastlines, visiting midieval towns and eating seafood. I highly recommend Cancale for (probably the most delicious you'll taste) oysters at 4 Euros per dozen.

Don't get discouraged by what people tell you about the weather in northern Bretagne. We didn't see a cloud in the sky in the days we were there. There was a bit of fog in the morning but this quickly melted away in the hot sun. See St. Malo when it is not foggy outside.

My parents and I stayed at Ferme Saint Christophe for two nights in December. We had a wonderful time and the two bedroom apartment was fabulous. Yann was very helpful with suggestions of what to do and where to go. It really was an oasis and it was wonderful to have a self contained apartment where we could cook our own meals and do some washing. If you are visiting the area don't stay anywhere else. We were originally going to stay just near Mont St Michel but when we got there we were very glad that we chose to stay at Yann's place. It is wonderful value for money.

The Ferme Saint Christophe is a great B&B for anyone travelling to the Normandy / Britany region of France. This is the first time that we’ve stayed in a B&B in Europe & I was so happy that I chose this place to stay at. Unfortunately for my wallet, my girls like to live it up while abroad & were a bit hesitant about staying in a B&B. I really wanted to experience the countryside of France & thought that the Ferme Saint Christophe would be a good compromise. It looked great on the web site, was well furnished & was fairly cheap for what you got.
The B&B is a converted cottage that has been nicely renovated. We chose a suite apartment which was perfect for our family of four. It had two bedrooms, a lounge & dining room, fully fitted out kitchen, a good size bathroom & separate toilet. The apartment was picturesque, exactly what you would expect when staying in a small country town in Northern France. It had more than enough space for our family, all the mod-cons to make our stay comfortable & would be a great base for anyone thinking about staying in that region for a longer period of time. The B&B also has a wonderful garden in which you can relax & enjoy a few glasses of wine after walking up all of those stairs at Mt Saint Michel.
Yann the owner was extremely helpful, & only too happy to assist us with directions & suggestions for sightseeing. He spoke English well, and if you twist his arm a bit he might even share a glass of wine or two while he tells you a yarn about Nth France, the people, the wine, cheese & my favourite Calvados :) . The B&B also has wireless internet access from the office.
Location wise, the B&B was only 15 minutes away from Mont-Saint-Michel, 30 minutes away from Saint-Malo & 2 hours away from Honfleur. Three places that are a must see while touring in the Normandy region.
All in all we had a great time & there were no negatives for our stay. To top it off, Yann servers up a French breakfast with coffee in the morning - a great way to start the day. The only negative being that we didn’t have enough time to see everything. We will definitely return in a few years’ time & stay longer.
