“Must stop if you're in the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2014

It's a long drive, but if you're heading for the beautiful beaches near Bridgewater you should stop at the Lahave Baker for some great food. Fresh, home made pizza, sammiches and other lunch choices, amazing drink options, super fantastic desserts, homemade breads to go, bags of granola that are so much better than store bought, and even a little shop you can browse and see the handy work of local artists and craftsmen.

We had our lunch outside at a little bistro table with a nice seaside view. Very friendly, fast service, too.

“Yummy baked goods.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013

Right on the water. A popular stopping of place for coffee, pastries and/or lunch. The home made pastries are to die for, and there is lots more of terrific home made casual food. Pricing is a little expensive.

Seating is very crammed and limited. There is outside seating for the hardy.

The bakery is also a gift store, and there is a large gift store at the rear of the building that sells a lot of local crafts.

Come in summer, grab a coffee and a pie, and sit on the dock and watch life sail by.

“This place is a must stop!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013 via mobile

I love everything about this place, the building with all it's history, the baked goods and treats, the individual Greek pizzas, the craft co-op in the back. I always stop here when coming across on the LaHave River cable ferry.

“Worth the wait”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

This is what all bakeries should strive to be! The food is fantastic, the staff is very friendly, the décor is eclectic and the whole vibe is awesome. Take your time looking around and picking out what you would like - they have an extensive selection. They can be pretty busy, but it is worth the wait. Be sure to visit the gallery in the back and the skate shop upstairs.

“Fantastic Lunch Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2013

Not to be confused with its storefront operation in Mahone Bay that is a hole in the wall selling delicious baked goods from this LaHave bakery, this is a fantastic spot for a coffee, a snack or lunch. The decor is fun and completely appropriate, the staff if sweeter than their cinnamon buns (OMG good by the way) and the food is eclectic, modern and perfectly prepared while you wait.

We visited twice and both times had a great experience. You can reach it by road from Bridgewater but taking the LaHave Ferry from just north of Riverport is WAY more fun. Only drawback is that it seems most of the cars are heading for the bakery so you get these rushes on the bakery whenever one comes in during the tourist season.

As others have said, their sandwiches are delicious and the over all menu is interesting and quite varied. Their soups are very good additions to the lunches.

The bakery is well worth the trip from anywhere in the area. Add a visit to Rissers Beach a couple kilometres past the bakery and it would be worth the drive from Halifax! Take the "Lighthouse Route" from Mahone Bay through Lunenburg and Rose Bay for a wonderful drive along the coast.
