Camping Hostel Amsterdamse Bos

We stayed for 3 nights in a cabin. It took us a while to find the campsite from the city centre but that was before we knew about the metro - the nearest station to the site is Spinnerij on route 51. The campsite has all the basics you need, including a small shop for things like bread and milk, and the showers and toilets were very clean. The surrounding area was lovely and you are able to hire bikes from there (which I would highly recommend). Overall, very good value for money!

We stayed here for a week, firstly in a cabin (booked through HostelWorld) and then in a tent. It took us a long while to arrive at the location. For anybody wanting easy instructions from the centre via public transport: the tram is the quickest and cheapest way: 2.80 euro for a one hour ticket - get the tram from inside central station to "Spinnerji" (direction "Westwijk). The owner (I assume it was the owner) was a bit rude... I felt like I had to tread carefully around him in order to have a decent converstion. It seemed maybe he was a bit quick-tempered. Otherwise the campsite it great for the price, though showers cost extra and there is NO soap nor toilet paper provided in the bathrooms. There is a kitchen on-site for guests to use at their leisure, something which is brilliant and comes from sockets to charge phones etc.
The kitchen area had a seating area which was great for socilaing with other travellers, and the wifi was accessible here.
I did have issues with the wifi though.... half the time it didn't work. Whether this was the fault of the campsite or my devices, I don't know. But in the next place we stayed my phone & Ipod connected fine to the wifi, so I think it was probably the fault of the campsite.
Nevertheless, overall it was a positive experience, the location is beautiful - if just a little far from the centre to walk. If you go make sure to take toilet paper and soap!

This campground was so cute. It was a bike ride away from the city was a really easy path. The owner was nice and gave useful information. He was very straightforward. Gave the information that you needed and went back to work. Not a chit chatter. The facilities were super clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything that you needed. I would stay here again if I ever get the chance to come back to Amsterdam.

We were staying in our Motorhome- 2 people, 2 nights
Location- its handy to get to the city on the bikes- flat scenic ride through the park (10 kms) or there is a bus outside that goes to the metro.
Nice layout for the campsite, spacious pitches, with trees and shrubs giving some privacy. The campsite itself is inside a big nature park, so it feels as though your in the countryside, not on Amsterdam's doorstep. Toilet Facilities were clean and heated. We used the ACSI card, so this was an excellent value city campsite too. would defiantly recommend for that reason
Only downside was the staff, the middle aged desk-man ( who i presume was the manager) had a terrible attitude, unhelpful, and somewhat condensing. The ground staff were also rather unfriendly, a simple "hallo" seemed too much for them. The younger gentleman at the desk was the only staff member who we encountered who was helpful, friendly, and courteous.

We stayed for three nights in the Chalet Bordeaux. The cabin itself was great, very spacious and equipped with basic kitchen utilities. However, be sure to bring your own bedding (or rent it at the reception), because the beds weren't the cleanest we have seen. Also, all four beds are single and seperated, so don't expect to snuggle if you're a couple.

The camp itself is a good 30 minutes walk from the first Metro station and then another 40 minutes ride to the central station. The camp offers bicycle rental, but we haven't used them. They looked comfortable and in good condition. There are lots of roaming rabbits at the camp site.

We didn't have any complaints about the camp itself, but the staff at the reception could be more friendly. They weren't rude as such, but they weren't helpful and barely talked at all.

When I first called to ask information, the reception told me it was close to the city 15 min by bike and 20 min by bus but actually it's really far from the city centre (about 20 km) 45 min by bike (if you are fast and you know well your itinerary) and at least an hour by bus and metro (you have to change bus several time and it will cost you about 10€).
The campsite was pretty good because of its location in a park. However, the airport is very close so it's sometimes noisy.
The camping challet was ok and clean but basic (more adapted for a group) and you have to pay for many extras (1€ for 6 minutes of shower, 5€ for a bed sheet, 5€ for the heating, no paper in the toilet), and the shop in the camping is expensive.
Showers and toilets were ok, not very dirty but not really clean too, the first time we went to the kitchen it was awful the second time it was clean.
If you are just travelling a fews days to visit Amsterdam city I would rather recommand an hotel in the center which I think would be more comfortable and even cheaper.

We stayed as a group of 5 during our tour to Amsterdam. The Chalet Ocala we booked was the perfect villa. We couldn't really find anything wrong except the wifi signal which was terribly poor. The place is really cool but the location is a bit far from city center. Rooms were clean and the kitchen had almost everything needed for a couple of days' camping. Bedrooms are really comfortable and the space utilization really needs appreciation.
