Tigh na Sgiath is a lovely Country House in a beautiful, peaceful location. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Elaine and Iain are wonderful hosts, who welcomed us with a delicious single malt. Dinner and breakfast were delicious! Would highly recommend!!

We have recently returned from another amazing break at Tigh na Sgiath. We visited the glorious beach at Findhorn, taking in Logie Steading on the way for a bit of retail therapy, climbed a mountain at Drumochter Pass and enjoyed walking around Anagach woods on the edge of Grantown-on-Spey. Also in the area is the Go Wild Wildlife Park, the Strathspey Steam Railway and Ballindalloch Castle.

As ever, the most memorable aspect of our stay was the amazing food - a delicious Scottish breakfast and five-course dinners, cooked to absolute perfection using fresh local ingredients.

The owners/hosts are unique - I can't wait for our next visit!

We love coming to this inn in the Scottish Highlands. Iain is such a great host, and he and Elaine have impeccable taste in decorating, and maintaining this establishment. We always feel so welcome here, and find the restaurant to be so good, we also dine here every evening. The food is simply delicious, whatever you get. There is a large accent on fresh and local food. Iain is a tremendous resource in discussing the local area and possible activities and events. We love the Ballindollich room - my wife fell in love with the deep, luxurious whirlpool tub in the bath. We will definitely return again and again. All the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Once again we returned to Tigh na Sgiath and it was just as good as we remembered. A great location for the various places of interest. We enjoy visiting the distilleries and castles. Fantastic food and lovely people. A nice place to relax. Definitely worth a visit.

Room Tip: Balindalloch has a lovely little turret to sit in.

We spent two nights here while exploring the Cairngorms area. Lovely country house in a peaceful setting. Well run and maintained. Atmosphere was of an elegant home. The owners are friendly and go out of the way to accommodate special wishes and needs. Elegant dining room with good food. This would be our pick on a return visit to the area.

We enjoyed our one night stay at this lovely hotel. Rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely presented. In the the grounds you could watch red squirrels in the trees. We were delighted to be able to bring our dog with us and she was allowed in most parts of the hotel. We were not disappointed with the service, nor quality of the hotel itself. However the breakfast was disappointing as I had high expectations from the description on the web site and the reality didn't live up to it. The porridge was lovely, but the cooked breakfast poorly presented and didn't taste like top quality ingredients had been used. I have eaten far superior breakfasts in many other Scottish hotels and simple cafés.

Room Tip: We took two superior rooms and both were lovely.

What more can I say about the Tigh na Sgiath that hasn't been said already? It's a beautiful country house hotel with perfect hosts and friendly, professional staff. Set in stunning grounds, with great views of the countryside beyond, it makes for a great base if you want to explore the northern end of the Cairngorms National Park or just want a quiet retreat from the big city. Host Iain welcomed us with a sherry and throughout our stay was full of tips and advice on where to go and what to see.

Our room, the Speanoch, was at the back of the house - very comfortable with a large and modern en suite bathroom. Complimentary fruit and water was provided. As someone who likes pitch black bedrooms, I wish I'd taken my sleep masks because it gets light very early in Scotland at this time of year!

Breakfast was absolutely top notch, from the porridge to the fry up. We ate a few times in the restaurant in the evenings and the food was excellent - from the canapes through to the mains and desserts. As we ate, we saw red squirrels feeding and even deer prancing around on the front lawn. And you don't see that too often in hotels.

The hotel is not the place to go if you want to be able to walk to a wide range of bars and restaurants! That's because the village of Dulnain Bridge is very quiet, so on a couple of occasions we got a cab into Grantown on Spey for dinner and drinks - particularly on evenings when the restaurant in the hotel was closed.

I would heartily recommend this hotel. And if I return to the Cairngorms, it will undoubtedly be my first choice as a place to stay.
