What a lovely hotel. We arrived into a beautiful Sicilian town with amazing views and up on the hill over looking it all was the hotel.

Our room was lovely with views that were unbelievable, if only I could wake up to that every morning. It was clean, nicely furnished and we had a balcony with chairs to sit and look at the view to our hearts content.

On the first evening we ate at the hotel, after enjoying complimentary prosecco by the infinity pool. The food was good, as people who don't eat meat we found all menu's catered for us well, this particular menu did too. The staff were friendly but we felt embarrassed at our poor understanding of Italian and we did a lot of pointing and gesturing. We then had a night cap in the bar, served by the friendly Giovanni.

Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, the buffet had everything you would expect, all fresh and constantly refreshed.

We spent one day by the pool, it was immaculately clean with good quality furniture and again looked over the town and that amazing view.

It was a fabulous few days, we did hire a car so the steep hill up to the hotel wasn't a problem to us.

We only visited the town twice but found it pretty, the people friendly and not overly touristy.

We can't wait to return.

We booked a bargain 3 night stay with Groupon, so we had no real expectations of the hotel except it would make a good base to explore North Sicily. We were so pleasantly suprised; the views from our room and the pool area are exceptional; absolutely beautiful, the room was pleasant / clean, the hotel is decorated in a funky retro style and the service, especially from Gisueppe in the bars was excellent. It is not in a 'touristy' area, which suited us just fine, eating out in local restaraunts (we would reccomend Bar Canapes) was good and very cheap, rarely exceeding 40 euros for 2 including wine / beer. The area and coastline are stunning and having a car is a must to explore, we would particularly reccomend a visit to Tindaris. On a final note, this time of year the hotel is very quiet, we had the pool area to ourselves, yet the weather is wonderful; mid 20's everyday.

Myself and my husband stayed that this property in October this year. It was fabulous. It is hard to find, it takes at least two hours to drive from Palermo Airport and it took almost as long to find the hotel itself. Although despite this, we had a wonderful time. The pool was fantastic and at this time of year it was very quiet and we have the poolside all to ourselves. The rooms could do with tea and coffee making facilities just for that last we cuppa before bed and just before breakfast too!! The restaurant we ate in was ok! I believe that the hotel closes from November through to February or March every year so we had a set dinner with no choice and was very much like carvery standards, which is not too bad, but being in Sicily I would have liked to have tried their steak etc. All in all we had an excellent time relaxation wise. Staff were great, no problems at all, very friendly and obliging. The night porter and the barman were particularly nice and friendly. I would like to go back to this hotel again in the height of summer to see what it has to offer then by way of nightlife, entertainment etc. The town itself is very quiet as well. But all in all we loved it!

Room Tip: Definitely hire a car and definitely so research on how to get to the hotel. It is very hard to fin...

Beautiful hotel rooms, beautiful views, excellent facilities and the best and friendliest staff ever! I cant rate the hotel and staff highly enough.

The only small down point was the restaurant, the buffet breakfast was excellent, but it would have been a better experience if there had been a restaurant facility providing meals in the evening as we did have to go out to eat if we wanted anything other than the buffet evening meal provided. This was good, but was not something we would want every evening. This may be different during high season as there was another restaurant on site that was not open during our stay in September.

Gioiosa itself is very small and not much to do but does have a few good cafe bars and restaurants. Not the kind of holiday for people who want to go clubbing or party every night, but perfect for relaxation and quiet holidays.

Room Tip: The hotel is high up and the highest rooms have the best views if you're head can stand it. Mine...

Just arrived home after a weeks stay at the hotel. Rooms nice and clean, pool area unbeatable. We were further tempted by the hotel when we had read it was not in a touristic location, however this proved to be the biggest downfall of the trip. There is nothing to do and the locals were unwelcoming, not a smile to be seen or anything more than a disapproving glance. I have never been anywhere like that before. This meant we were limited as to where to go, we were happy to stumble through dinners with basic Italian, but didn't feel happy to do so because of the bad vibe. Therefore we are at the restaurant more than planned. The buffet, at 25 euros a head is extortionate for a very average and barely warm dinner. Breakfast is good though with plenty of choice, and cooked meats which I actually really enjoyed! The staff are brilliant and friendly with only one or two exceptions, and the rooms are a good standard, lacking amenities as previously mentioned such as a clock or tea. Overall, this could be a brilliant hotel and for the Groupon offer we can't really complain, however I would not pay full price. Other than the location and food there's nothing major to complain about. Make sure you hire a car!

It's a good location when you want to discover sicily by car, stay in one place and move on to the next one... sea view rooms, good service, friendly staff, great pool. You can use your own navigation or in the car to find this hotel or simply ask them for directions :) Cheers

Pro's: We really enjoyed our week there. The hotel was very nice, free wifi in the reception and pool areas, wonderful dinners, views are outstanding, pool was the nicest I've ever had. If you are looking to be busy all day, this is not for you. Little animation, but that's exactly what we wanted. Just to relax and enjoy the sea and the sun. The town of Gioiosa Marea is a small walk away, especially the heat makes it harder. But if you are semi-fit, it's not a problem. There really isn't much to do there at all. You can go to the local beach, walk around the few little shops, but that's about it.
We had all inclusive and I highly suggest getting it. The drinks (if we had to pay for them) were quite expensive so we definitely saved money by getting AI.
Con's: Breakfast was the same exact food every single morning. Small variety, terrible coffee (bring your own!). I'm not really hungry in the mornings, so I could live with it - plus dinner most definitely made up for the breakfast.
There was a hotel beneath this one, which had a very lively animation program going on every single night. The music was very loud and we heard it every night from our balcony. If you went inside and shut the balcony door though it was silent. The elevators were pretty slow and inside the lamps make it very hot. It's almost faster to take the steps, but that wasn't really an issue.
I had paid extra to get a "sea-view" room, but once we got there we realized that all rooms have sea view. So don't pay the extra money. You'll have the great view anyways.
Overall we had an outstanding week at this hotel and were not ready to go home yet. I do highly suggest getting a rental car unless you really are just looking to lay at the beach and the pool.
