Zanzibar is also known as the Spice Island. Andre, the chef at Pumzika Beach Resort Restaurant, couldn't take better care of the resources available.

We stayed at Pumzika for six nights and never had a desire to go anywhere else. Between beach and relaxation, the meals came to be what we looked most forward to. Going to the same restaurant never got boring. Andre's desire for experimentation combined with the wide palette of local food was the icing on the cake that made our stay so great.

As the only guest on the resort, Danielle and Andre hosted me in their backyard every night. We had a 4-course meal beginning with cold soup (made from one fruit and one vegetable), salad, main course, and dessert. Andri truly catered to my taste since I really wanted to try seafood from the island.

Andre, the cook of Pumzika beach resort, is not a cool. He's an artist, and his meals are masterpieces. Every breakfast, every lunch and every dinner is different and absolutely delicious. Andre's passion for cooking, you'll feel it every time you'll be eating, and there's nothing more pleasant.

Our family of 4 ( 2 teenagers) stayed at Pumzika Beach Resort for 5 nights over New Years 2013. The food is amazing. André takes pleasure in serving delicious, healthy, freshly prepared meals with local ingredients. Breakfast includes hearty homemade bread and an assortment of jams, fruit salad, juice and coffee. You could order eggs, sausage etc if you had any room for it. Lunch would usually be a little lighter (salad, fresh tuna etc) given the big breakfast. Dinner was a delight. A 4 course meal every night, starting with a cold soup, made from a fruit and vegetable combination (and you had to guess which ones). Then an appetizer, the main course (often delicious local seafood) and dessert. Portion sizes were not excessive, so it was possible to enjoy all 4 courses. There was a nice selection of wines to choose from. Dining was al fresco and the service was excellent. It was wonderful to be able to chat with Danielle and André after dinner, as well as with other guests staying at Pumzika. We looked forward to every meal.

We were in Pumzika for 8 days during Christmas 2013. This review will cover everything we ate during the stay. André makes fresh baked bread every day for breakfast, you can order snacks, sandwich or chapati (just examples, ask and they will attend your wish) in the afternoon and he also is the chef for 4 course dinner in the evening. Everything served was flawless, I have never been so well and eaten this much of good food, it's healthy, tastes good and is beautifully presented. André knows how to put the dish together and he is also a very fun man, playing with your senses and every dinner have a small game of guess by the table. Absolute top notch, premium restaurant that you don't want to miss.
