Although I am not a regular diner at the Shambles I would indeed recommend it to those with a healthy appetite. On both occasions I ordered the Brunch and my friend ordered Sausages and Mash, which were wise choices. Unlike many of the chain public houses in the area, the food here had a home cooked 'cared about' element. It arrived in good time and was freshly cooked and consisted of quality ingredients, not like the microwaved processed offerings that some establishments have resorted too.

I have on more than one occasion salivated over a delicious steak passing me at the bar, whilst indulging in a pint or two of the landlords beautifully kept real ales. The Shambles is an ideal, easy to find public house that offers free wi-fi and a comfortable, homely environment. I would most certainly recommend anyone in need of somewhere to digress over a business lunch or perhaps a watering hole for weary travellers.

Stopped here for the second time very comfortable made too feel very welcome staff really sociable would recommend to anyone. Meals really nice, rooms very warm and quiet i asked for a room not over the bar ( monday night skittles) and there was no problems. Left before breakfast times but landlady prepared some sandwiches to take away.
Would definitely stop there again.
Thanks

Popped in for lunch while dog at the groomers. We both had the beef pie and chips. Delicious pie homemade and real chips, not out of a packet.
Good service and nice and hot, my husband hates cold food. Definitely worth a return visit. Almost forgot good beer too.

Stay here for one night for business as the company were right around the corner. Can't compliment it enough. I arrived late but the landlord waited up for me. Room was clean and exactly what was needed, comfortable and with coffee and tea and buscuits etc. great for the price and would recommend the extra few pounds for breakfast. When I was away they looked after my bags and then helped get a cheaper taxi to Rugby when I came back. Thanks to all!

This is the second time I've used the pub-for a single travelling salesman it's useful to know where you want to get off the M1 and find somewhere you can park and enjoy an evening meal. It's free to park in the town after 6pm since the pub's car park has only room for 6/7 vehicles. The service was good and the first course included vegetable soup with a 'bagette' but this turned out to be a large soft roll with butter but the soup remained hot thruout. The next course was Beef & Ale Pie with chips and seasonable vegetables: the cauliflower florets were good and the greens were average as were the sliced carrots and chips but the pie was the best value that I've experienced for this meal:so if your driving down the motorway suggest you turn off for a mile or so and then get stuck in to this pie! Price for the meal under £10 and well worth the diversion.

We stayed here 3 nights in room 1 as we were attending Silverstone the landlord George and landlady Denise are absolutely wonderful they are so friendly helpful and nothing was to much trouble, even tho we had a little loud 3 an a half year old with us, we got there Fri and was already pre warned that they had a live band on which were really good we ate in the restaurant when we got there we ordered a kids sausage n mash, adults beef lasagne and beef casserole the food was really good well cooked huge portions so good in fact we ate all our meals there, the beef and ale pie is definitely a dish you should try. All the staff here are really friendly, we will defiantly be back next year for Silverstone again and look forward to seeing George and Denise again,

Went to eat here with friends on 25 May early evening.

It was quiet at the time we went in but still felt inviting. Decor is a little tired but not to the point it looks shabby.

Menu is reasonably varied for a pub of this sort and prices are very reasonable - especially if you go for one of the offers available.

Staff attentiveness and performance was a bit lacking - not sure how they cope when they have a full bar and people eating as the service at the bar when taking the order was below par - we only ordered 3 meals and one of those came out wrong.

This pub / restaurant together with it's accommodation is in a prime location and with just a little more attention to detail could be easily getting 4 and 5 ratings as a matter of course.
