“Not that bad...”
Reviewed 26 February 2010

Before the reservations, I read what was said about this hotel and frankly I wasn't that sure that I was going to like it. But sincerely it's not that bad... The main thing is that this hotel is a 4*, so the expectations are high. But there are somethings that a 4* can't have, and it boders the guests.

Now the review:

The location is fantastic, couldn't be better. The ski-rental Pic Negre is in the hotel, and there are also 2 stores (ski equipment) which is great. The decoration of the main areas of the hotel is a bit weird, but you get used to it and learn to enjoy.

When we got to the 1st room, next to the pool, we found out some bad issues, so we went to the front desk and got another room. This 2nd room, bigger, was ok, but had also a really old decoration, not pretty. We had to change to a 3rd room because of availabilities and went to a room with a great view. In resume, not perfect but the staff was very friendly and helpfull. The rooms have a good temperature and the bath is great.

Because we had half-board we had breakfast and dinner. Both are good, nice choice in the morning and dinner is a 3 course meal, each with 3 choices. Good food and good presentation.

The bar is ok, had one lunch (buffet) with plenty of choice and in the evening there are 2 rooms to be (a bit noisy, lot's of children).

This said, the hotel deserves a 3 or 4... Let's be wild, a 4! I had fun!

Stayed at Llop Gris over new year with my husband and four daughters. Booked a four star hotel with spa, with a gala new year evening sounded great! Hotels locationn was ideal close to cable car.

On arriving the hotel was very dated, the food was ok, but the menu stayed the same all week and it was very rich night after night.

The swimming pool was freezing and jacuzzi and surroundings were not too clean and the sauna worked periodically.

The service was not 4 star although, the staff were very friendly and tried their best.

The gala new year was going to cost us 50 euros each (25 child) on top of our already expensive rate. So we declined and ate in the bar area. Would not book again.

  • Liked — location to ski slopes
  • Disliked — cold swimming pool

What can i say the hotel LLop Gris is ideal, its 5 steps away from the slopes you can sky in to the hotels reception i had never seen anything like it before.
The hotel is gorgeous the room we had was a decent size and clean as well as very well decorated. It had a safe, Sky TV and a phone.
The hotel has:
* Heated pool
*Jacuzzi
*Sauna
*Squash
*Table tennis
*Ski lockers

Overall the hotel more than deserves the 4 star rating it has. We will without doubt stay there next winter, one word EXCELLENT!
check their website for prices (make sure you not standing up though!!!)

We travelled as a family 2 adults ,two teenagers and a 6 yr old...Having read the previous review I was expecting the worst ,but this was the only hotel we could get into for the weekend we wanted so we had no option...upon arrival I was delighted to see just how close it is to the slopes 10metres to the chair lift and a short 50 m downhill ski or walk to the gondola ...in my experience this is just about the most important element of skiing accomodation ..there really is nothing worse than trying to lug three kids worth of ski gear miles to the lifts and back again every day ..the reception staff were friendly and we were delighted by the size of our room (we had booked the suite..the only rooms left in the hotel) this was spacious clean and warm with tremendous views of the mountain and came complete with our own mountain goats living in a chalet in the garden that the balcony opened onto.. much to the delight of the kids ..
we had booked half board which could be taken either in the Grill or the gourmet restaraunt..we chose the grill for the two nights we were there as it was more child friendly but the restaraunt looked fine and one night had a huge barbecue going with what looked like a whole lamb being roasted on a spit in front of the open fire and looked delicious ..the waiting and bar staff were exceptionally friendly and breakfast whilst not exactly a gourmet experience was perfectly adequate with bacon and eggs available along with the usual buffet stuff....pool could have been a bit warmer and the jacuzzi was luke warm as described but hey we came to ski not sit in a tub of water and thats what we did ..
all in all not the cheapest hotel but perfectly comfortable for us as a family and we would be more than happy to return again next year
