Very peaceful and great countryside. Very nice old Lady that runs the Hotel and the food is fantastic. The biggest let down is that there is never any hot water and the colour of the water is always orange. The rooms are not too bad but are in need of modernisation.

We have been going there for many many years and always enjoyed the famous "gauffre" in heart shape, covered by sinful fresh cream. Plus Catherine, the Boss, running the place with talents.

The countryside is superb and offer memorable walks...

I don't have any good thing to say about my experience at the hotel starting with the location: the place looks nice from the outside, but there is absolutely nothing around, just fields and forest.
The room was small and the bathroom was like a shoes box, poorly cleaned; uncomfortable bed, impossible to sleep over, the tv was from the 40s with four channels and the button to switch them... it could be considered old style, but it didn't even work properly!
The breakfast was unbelievably bad with just a bowl of fruit and cereals...and the bowl of fruits was still the same at the end of the week!
First time in Belgium, definitely wrong hotel.

Over the last 15 years I have visited Ferme Libert at least once a year. I stayed in both the old and the new buildings.
The old building is not recommended, I believe rooms aren't available anymore.
Altough quite pricey, the new building offers a good quality.
Breakfast is an informal buffet affair in an atmosphere that makes me feel at Ikhome.
Dinner is another matter, the quality varies dramatically. There is no way to predict what will turn out of the kitchen.
Last time we got an enormous bowl of mediocre soup and fresh trout which was pretty good.
The best thing about this place is the balcony, where you can enjoy fine Belgian beers (ask forheheh at triple) and real waffles. The view is great.

Room Tip: Don't take a room in the same building as the reception, but insist on the newer building, it...

I discovered the already well known Ferme Libert as a kid, some 40 years ago; I used to go with the family to feed the deer, watch wild boars and have a lovely warm waffle at the restaurant. Pleasantly located on top of a hill, next to the forest with lots of walking trails. Over four decades, little has changed on the outside. We spent two nights right after Christmas. Although I had never stayed there before, I suspect little has changed inside too. Accommodation is completely outdated; lousy decoration, basic bathrooms, uncomfortable beds, thin walls. On the bright side, rooms are very clean; all staff are friendly and do their best to help. Our kids loved the breakfast buffet: plenty of fresh bread with plenty of Nutella, local cheese and 'charcuterie'. We loved the homemade marmalades, especially plum, rhubarb and blueberry. Too bad coffee was average at best.
Prices were fair in comparison with other locations in the area.
In summary, a good place for nature lovers not in search of anything fancy. Definitely not for honeymooners.

We went for lunch: ended up with 7 entrees for 5 people; they forgot to bring us the 8th: the order was not taken correctly. Side orders arrived when we had finished the meat. Compote turned out to be a tinned pear; waitress apologized because the handle of the wine pichet was broken. The cold came in through the broken windows. It is about time someone start to renovate the place and maybe the owner should limit their responsibilities to talking to the guest and not try to take the orders any more. Such a pity I have been coming there for many years, but I refuse to go down with the establishment and the rest of the customers. I will be looking for another restaurant.
