Seaside Hotel The Beach
Reviewed 11 January 2013

First of all, be clear that this is a budget hotel ("budget" by Japanese standards, of course). You will not get all the bells and whistles of an upmarket chain. Furthermore, the trip from lobby to room gives the impression of a motel rather than hotel - if it's raining you'll likely get wet on your way to breakfast in the morning.

That said, this is a good place to stay. The room was large, spotlessly clean and well-appointed. Heating and A/C were quite efficient and the shower was fantastic. The beds were fantastically comfortable as well. There is TV and safe, hairdryer and internet cable (no WiFi in rooms, though).

Breakfast is Japanese style, not really to my tastes but fairly good nonetheless. The food at dinner was not bad but a little pricey for what you got, though the cheap Asahi during happy hour made up for it.

As another reviewer has said this is very close to the Kadena Air Base and you can watch the military aircraft coming in to land. It can occasionally be noisy during the day but the flights stop between dusk and dawn and I experienced no problems with noise.

Overall, recommended.

This hotel in Okinawa is a fantasically well-run property. The price per comfort-unit is well worth it. The design of the spacious room interiors is very well done with the best of appointments; all have an indigenous attention to the details of design, cleaning, and maintenance. The staff is very helpful and somewhat capable in English. There are several small eating establishments and a great little coffee house within walking distance. The main gate to Kadena AFB is nearby also. From the room's balcony, you can watch the approach of all the different breeds of USAF war eagles as they approch the Kadena runway for landing (not loud at all). At night after the flight line is shut down you can enjoy the tropical air and watch the giant Vietnamese fruit bats hunting night bugs. As for the food at the hotel, on top of the hotel is a restaraunt. They serve a fantastic Okinawan breakfast with open air seating that lets simultaneously dine and breath in the mists of the East China Sea.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor for views of the East China Sea and the Kadena approach path.

This hotel is pretty descent. We stayed in a standard size room. No wireless internet, but they do have a LAN line to connect to. Bathroom is fine and a convenient balcony to dry dive gear. They have a coin laundry in the hallway and the staff is very accommodating. They also gave us a voucher for a free 30 min. massage that they provide in the hotel and a dinner voucher. Breakfast is included in the price and it is served from 7-9am. No lunch is available in the hotel but it's okay because there are plenty of restaurants around. This hotel is a 40 min. walk from the American Village and provides for a pleasant walk in the evenings along the boardwalk. The rooms have a safe, refrigerator, tv, great AC, and an extra roll out bed for extra guests. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

This hotel is pretty good. Rooms are very comfortable and quite large by Japanese standards. Bathroom had a full size bath plus a separate shower area. No sleepwear provided but they had the usual bathroom amenities. There's also a balcony to dry out dive gear.

Reception is open from about 7am until about 11pm. There are coin laundry facilities and drink vending machines (including beer). The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, I don't know about lunch because I was never there. Breakfast is varied but fairly forgettable... very Japanese which doesn't really suit my taste at breakfast time. They do have toast and jam though, and fruit.
