Stayed here in Jan of 2013. Ideal location in the mid village and as previously mentioned it is literally 10m from the ski shuttle stop! The hosts Andy and Kauri are so nice and welcoming into their home! The day staff are lovely and it is a really welcoming homely environment to stay! Highly recommended! Some may be turned off by the shared shower facilities.... but if they are that is fine by me as it means I am more likely to get in! Thoroughly recommended!

Myself and my brother stayed at the Red Ski House in early January 2012 and both really enjoyed our stay.

The house is located in Lower Hirafu village, but perfectly located opposite the bus stop, various popular restaurants, bars and an Onsen. Nothing is too far a walk to get too, but I’d recommend the bus from the stop if you want to save yourself the 15 minute walk. The hosts were excellent and provided help to access rental equipment, passes etc… and are always available for any other reason.

Breakfast was always on time, varied and tasty. Day to Day you have tea/coffee's available, as well as breads, jams, juices and fruit and you have the option to have a cooked breakfast which changes day to day, and includes poached eggs, Omlettes, French Toast etc.. All in all, a perfect way to fuel up for a long day on the slopes.

The house was always warm and cosy, and was always attractive as a place to return to after a days boarding. The communal showers were always clean, and always had piping hot water available, and there is also washing facilities available should you need them.

I’d highly recommend this place to young couples, singles, or groups of friends as this is a great house to sit around a table and have a chat with fellow guests. It excelled in making everyone feel welcome. We’ll def be back.

I love this place so much I don't want to leave! The Red Ski House is amazing and so easy to live in! The bathrooms are great, the rooms are spacious and clean and the included hot & cold breakfast is delicious and wholesome (different every day, banana pancakes, french toast, bacon and eggs, omelettes YUM!). The hosts (english speaking) are really accommodating and friendly and are always on hand to help book places for dinner and recommend great places to go. The house is literally on the corner of the bus stop for the free shuttle into the ski fields (10 minutes away or even walking distance). Close enough to walk into town near the main road and really close to convenience stores. Also walking distance to great eateries (lots of different cuisines and heaps of delicious japanese places) and really cool bars (be sure to visit the Fridge Door Bar!). I can't wait to come back again.
