Totally enjoyed the hotel during my stay in Niseko! I had a room with ski slope view and the view was fabulous especially in the evening when the lights on the ski slopes were turned on for night skiing. The room that I stayed in was a new wing and we could smell the paint on the first day that we were there! Room size was big for Japanese standard. What is attractive about the room was the presence of a balcony allowing lots of natural light into the room.

Room amenities were adequate and it was great that they provided self-service laundry including washing detergent at no charge.

The hotel is a short walk down to the beginners ski lift and a short walk up to the other 2 ski lifts that are more advanced. It is also a short walk to most restaurants in the village.

We had a dinner at the in-house restaurant Snow Castle. It was indeed expensive but the food was good. Hotel service was also good and they helped me with whatever I needed efficiently.

Will stay there if I go to Niseko again!

Chalet Ivy was worth every penny and then some! The location was unbeatable, just down the street from the mountain. If you didn't want to walk that was fine as the hotel provided a shuttle that was ready to go whenever you were. The service was top notch, the staff was super friendly, helpful, spoke English well and made great recommendations. The buffet breakfasts were so delicious and they switched up the variety, I couldn't get enough. The onsen was beautiful and peaceful, we went every night! We also got massages at the hotel and it was one of the best massages I've had. We stayed in the new wing, so everything was very modern and clean, it even smelled brand new. The beds were super comfortable and the bathroom was very spa like and the toilets were so cool. We also appreciated the ski lockers and ski concierge, they were so friendly and helpful as well. For the price it's totally worth it, you get what you pay for. Thanks again Chalet Ivy, we will be back!

Room tip: Ask for the rooms in the new wing, they are literally brand new & modern

Room was very average - a bit spartan. Carpets in the corridor showed wear and were dirty. Staff were abrupt or disinterested. We were roundly scolded for mislaying one of our key cards and warned that we would be charged if we 'continued to lose them'. The onsen was nicely designed but the actual onsen was barely warm enough so didn't stay in very long. A request for a waffle (by a fellow guest with child in tow) at breakfast was met with incredulity even though two chefs seemed to be standing around in the kitchen doing nothing. When my husband asked if there was any hot sauce available, the waitress answered that she would try to 'scrounge something up'. Seriously? We received a note from SkiJapan regarding our departure (three days hence) and they called from the front desk despite a do not disturb notice, then knocked loudly on the door before slipping it underneath - again despite a 'do not disturb' notice on the door.
There is a hot plate in the room but no pans or kitchen utensils. Occasionally we like to stay in and heat up a bowl of soup (perhaps they are trying to discourage this?). When we asked downstairs we were again treated with disdain and informed that Guests needed to let staff know if they wanted any kitchen equipment. This was not made clear on the info sheet or anywhere else.
Very disappointing service and I would not recommend it.

Dear Alexandra_E3264,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your candid comments of our property. We are sorry to hear that your experiences fell short of expectations and thank you for bringing these points to my attention. I have shared your invaluable comments with my team so that we can continue to improve our services.

Our staff have been directed to remind guests politely about the safety features of room keys, keeping in mind the importance of treating each guest with courtesy and enthusiasm. Bottled syrup and chocolate sauce are available beside waffles, and more importantly our chefs and service staff have been reminded to note and to act sincerely upon guest requests. Regarding the note under your door, staff hoped to hand the letter directly to you upon informing you of the delivery, and knocked on the door because the letter was of such importance that we did not want to miss handing it to you, but either way we should have been much more sensitive to the do not disturb sign on your door. Finally, although we have equipment and utensils listed in our in room guides and information about deliveries upon request, we will inform guests about this service more effectively so that guests can get more out of their stays.

We apologize for all the inconveniences and sincerely hope that we can have another opportunity to welcome you back to our improved property in the future.

With much appreciation,
Makoto Iwasa, Hotel Manager

This hotel has everything you need for a Japan skiing holiday. 5min walk to the slopes or you can utilise the free shuttle buses. There are lockers provided for your ski/snowboard though it's recommended you take your boots back to your room for drying.

The hotel has an onsen which is perfect for relaxing after skiing. I didn't have the opportunity to use it as I opted to stay in a room with a private onsen.

Breakfast was decent and the dinner at snow castle restaurant provided a good kaiseki menu though it was quite expensive.

The hotel has an onsite ski rental / waxing and the staff are excellent.

definitely deserves the number 1 spot in niseko.

Stayed here for a few nights with 2 friends. The room was nice and modern and they provided an extra bed for the third person in our group. Everything was close by and the staff were lovely and English speaking

Had a good time at the bar chatting to the lovely bartenders and the onsen was great after a long day snowboarding.

The breakfast spread was really good as well, but I'd probably recommend having lunch and dinner elsewhere.
