“Thanks to All Staff at Brook Meadow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2012

To Tom and all staff at Brook Meadow Hotel,

We hoped for a quality hotel that would offer tranquillity, good service, and excellent food. This hotel is a credit to the management and all staff at Brook Meadow. Myself and my partner were guests over the Christmas period and decided on the 3 night Christmas Break at an unbelievable price.

During our stay we received a personal welcome as we were the first guests to arrive, from then on things couldn't have been better, all staff are friendly, courteous and offer a warm, professional, personal approach to all guests. The food at this hotel is superb and the Chef should receive the praise he or she deserves, the way it was cooked and presented is 5 star quality. Any requests we made were dealt with swiftly and smoothly, customer service is second to none, and we will most certainly be returning to this hotel very very soon.

We have recommended this hotel to friends and family.

Thank you for making our Christmas very special
Mr D J Potts and Mr J J Crompton

Room Tip: We had a room in the annexe overlooking the garden which was excellent

I had my wedding here in July 2011. The day was beautiful.
We had our wedding ceremony outside and reception in one of the big rooms.
Brian was brilliant and helped us every step of the way.
The food was amazing and brilliant quality.
The staff were all really helpful and friendly.
We had about 14 rooms that night and there was not one complaint- all clean, tidy and comfy.
I highly would recommend that you stay here. And highly recommend it as a wedding venue. Its brilliantly priced and the setting is so beautiful.

After a friendly greeting by Laura and the manager Tom, we knew this hotel would be a little different from the norm. The friendly and chatty staff really make you feel at home. This is so much better than the sometimes impersonal service you find at some of the larger hotels.
All the guests were there for a Christmas break on a special full board, 3-night package which was excellent value. It was very kind of Tom to allow us to bring the family pet, the Parrot with us. I think because of him, they gave us one of the five suites in the old house which at first glance appeared a little dated, but actually it was a very nice room. They also have a new wing with a further 15 to 20 rooms.

The only criticism I would have is with their room maintenance. The TV remote didn’t work, although they found us another that did! The pump wasn’t working for the Jacuzzi, but it was still an excellent bathroom and shower. The sash cord was broken on one of the old windows. That said though, it was still a lovely warm hotel and certainly wouldn’t put us off staying there again, in fact I would say it is probably my preferred hotel for the Wirral. The location is excellent, being close to the Welsh Road for access to North Wales. Also close to Chester, and the new RSPB wetland centre at Burton Mere is just a few miles away.

The hotel is part of the Oxford Hotels & Inns group (www.OxfordHotelsAndInns.com) so you can book online with them, although we found or special offer at www.SuperBreak.com. If you’re just stopping for dinner then the three course dinners are excellent (£23.50 per person in 2011). Good traditional cooking by some excellent chefs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room wugrade to a suite if you need a little extra space.

We have just returned from the 3 night Christmas Break which was also our Honeymoon.
There are a few gripes so ill get them out of the way first. When we booked it we requested one of the nicer rooms in the hotel which we didnt get. Our room was quite tatty with no valance sheet on the base of the bed which was soiled. Our spa bath didnt work and we felt that the room was very dark and extremley warm. Our first night was very uncomfortable with the very soft pillows however the staff rectified that for us the following day.
The bathroom could have been cleaner, there was a build up of mould around the bath and the tiles look like they havent been cleaned for a while.
The initial booking stated that entertainment would be included throughout. There was none so we felt like the break was misold to us. There was very little to do in the hotel and we felt quite bored. Dont get me wrong we knew it would be a quiet break away but not that quiet. People were actually whispering to each other in the main lounge.
Thats the moaning over. The staff were very attentive and worked very hard, always on the go and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were greeted by the general manager who showed us to our room and actually took the time to speak to guests individually.
The food was plentiful and gorgeous. You couldnt fault it, there was great variety and it was always well presented and tasty.
The break was good value for money it is just a shame about the entertainment which we wouldnt have minded paying a bit more for it it meant keeping us occupied.
We were a little disappointed with the overall stay and probably wouldnt stay there in the future. We would however visit the restaurant again if we were in the area.

We stayed for 2 nights. The evening meal was excellent: very good choice and first class quality.
The breakfast on both days was also very good.
The hotel is a mixture of room quality. Ours was fine but we did hear some other residents complaining.
As a base to visit Chester and Liverpool it is good as the train service from Hooton, which is about 5 minutes drive away, is very good with trains every 15 minutes and at a decent price. The car park at the station is only 80 pence for the day.
We would certainly consider staying here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely time.

The rooms were nice but the bathroom needed a little work, although it was clean there was a substantial build up of mould around the edgesof the bath and loose wiring round the lights above the mirror . The carpet in the corridors was also showing a bit of wear. That's all the negatives out of the way.

The lounge area was lovely with subdued lighting and candles on the table in the evening. You could have a bar meal in the lounge or a more formal meal in the conservatory. The conservatory was small but welcoming, the 3 course meal had about 6 choices per course for £23.50. Food was very good with the main courses being absolutely amazing. Wine and drinks were very reasonable (about the same as pub prices). Service was excellent, Pip in particular was superb.

Breakfast was very good but was only served until 9am which is quite early if you're on a relaxing break.

The hotel isn't really within walking distance of anywhere else as it is set about 1/4 mile up a country lane with no pavements but it is really easy to drive to and Chester is very close.

All in all I thought this hotel had a real feeling of warmth about it however, if you want an ultra modern updated hotel and room then this might not be the place for you.

We had our wedding reception here and it was amazing. From the moment we booked (a year earlier) Brian was always there to answer questions or offer advice, and we feel that he really makes this hotel a special place to hold any function as he is so attentive....everybody should have a Brian!
The grounds are absolutely stunning and the overall vintage style of the hotel remains throughout, even when you are in the newer part of the building. The peaceful and relaxed atmosphere is wonderful, especially in the lounge area. In fact, we missed the place so much we went back and stayed 2 days later(for some tranquility).
Both the bridal suite and later the family room we stayed in had jacuzzi baths. The rooms were perfect for us and all our guests too. Many commented on the food - Seriously the nicest beef and yorkshires (apart from my Mum's, obviously) I have ever tasted. The fact that they were able to make and serve piping hot 120 meals at once is a testament to how well this place is run. Tom the manager is also very warm and friendly and is probably one of the least coroprate managers we have met!
We will definitely be returning to the Brook Meadow very soon, and would recommend it to anyone whether it be for a meal, just drinks, small function or a large wedding. This review may seem gushing but we really can't praise it enough.
