“Always busy but don't know why”
Review of The Orchard Cafe

Been here twice at Christmas and Easter - The garden centre is good but the cafe leaves much to be desired. The food is awful and service is slow yet it is always crowded - not much choice on menus and what was available did not look appetizing - must be for older people who don't like going elsewhere - it is expensive for what it is also. Will not go to cafe again there are far better places near by.

We visited on a Sunday morning for breakfast and the cafe was really busy so it looked promising. We chose our breakfast and then had to wait with our food whilst the young lady tried to make a coffee. Once we sat down our food and coffee were cold. The breakfast was awful, the sausages are the cheapest fattiest sausages I have ever tried. the bacon was undercooked and covered in white spots because it hadn’t been drained. The fried bread was cold, greasy and as soon as you tried to cut it it disintegrated. Hash browns were cold and undercooked. The only things on the plate that were edible was the mushrooms and the egg which was fresh out of the kitchen as we ordered.

Such a shame as it is a lovely cafe and a nice environment and could have been so much better.

Been going to the Burleydam Garden Centre for more than 25 years. Recently its not what it used to be, the food is often cold by the time you get to your seat, so you have to return it to be warmed.
The organisation of the restaurant lets the place down, there was a Lady Manager in the restaurant who appears to have gone now, she was always on the ball and kept it running well, that may have a bearing on the issues?

This was just a good Friday lunch trip,my wife had a salad and I had a hot sandwich which were very fresh and tasty.
We also had coffee and the lemon cheesecake which was a great end to a lovely meal.

Stopped by the Burleydam Garden Centre, anyone say boring middle class blandness? Hungry, so we made way to the The Orchard Cafe/ restaurant for lunch. O dear, huge potential, big crowds, poorly organised, suffering customer service and very inoffensive flavour to be unremarkable. Rose water cake had nothing rosey except pink food colouring. How do these places stay in business? Curried parsnip soup was Ok and not extraordinary. The sandwich was served on a plain naked plate, no salad, no pickle, no crisps...just unremarkable. Folks, Iceland products taste a far sight better and you'd stock up for the price this place charges.
