We have just had a lovely meal at the Wheelhouse for Fathers Day. Food was excellent (main menu and carvery). Service was friendly and staff were very considerate of toddler and baby. Lovely views and atmosphere. Prices aren't cheap but in my opinion what we received was good value. We'll certainly be back :-)

We've always wanted to visit this place since moving to the west coast and recently had an opportunity to. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the place, it shone. Pity that the food didn't. I had chicken with haggis which was dry, this was accompanied by bright yellow rice which wasn't quite cooked,a tomato and three onion rings, one of which was outer skin and a small amount of sauce which wasn't enough for the rice on the plate.
The nicest thing was the baked potato. My husband choice was ok but the chips were described as hand cut which we took to mean real, homemade chips but these were clearly frozen and not the best quality. We chose off the menu as the carvery choice was very unappealing on the day that we visited. I cannot see why the carpark always looks full at peak times. Perhaps its the appeal of being able to stuff your plate with vegetables from the carvery. We will not be visiting again. I've had better meals in large chains such as Wetherspoons etc. It's expensive and the drinks are not reasonable either.

Dear Tourerbycar,

Thank you for your review. My apologises for any dissatisfaction with your meal. If there is ever anything not quite to your liking then our staff would have been more than willing to have rectified it for you given the opportunity. The chips we use are certainly not frozen, it is unfortunate that people simply assume this just because the chips were not to their liking.

The car park is always full at peak times because we are a very good, popular restaurant that has built up a strong, loyal customer base over the years. We are only human and we do make mistakes and get it wrong from time to time. On those occasions we will apologise and try our best to both rectify and learn from those mistakes. While we fully respect your opinion it is unfortunate that you choose to jump to such conclusions and question others based on a one off visit.

Kind regards and best wishes

While visiting from Canada and staying at Gleddoch House, we had two family dinner parties at The Wheelhouse Bar & Grill. The restaurant was recommended by our Scottish relatives and certainly did not disappoint on either occasion.
Reservations were readily accepted, staff were very welcoming, service was excellent. Most of us enjoyed the carvery with wonderful roast beef, ham, and turkey with all the fixin's. Anyone ordering from the extensive menu were very pleased as well.
We were driving a van and found the parking lot a little tight but there is lots of room for free parking on the street. There are lovely views of the Clyde from the restaurant.
Everyone enjoyed their meals and great relaxed atmosphere!

We’ve been to this restaurant quite a few times as it's local, the setting is really nice and has a lovely warm feel to the surroundings. The staff are always friendly and courteous even when busy. We would visit more often but the prices are too expensive for the quality of food you get. The food feels like it’s all pre-made and never freshly cooked, I would recommend having the carvery for better value for money. The drinks are really expensive, the coffees should be £1 cheaper and the liqueur coffee’s are very over priced at £6.95! I would recommend it just for the feel of the place but don’t expect the best food.
