Newly renovated and very modern it all looks very smart. The lounge/kitchen/diner is huge. The bedrooms are a good size, there’s even a third small room which just has the spare towels and ironing facilities in it. The main double bed was very firm.
The kitchen has very little worktop but a superb induction hob and good quality pans, really sharp knives, kettle, toaster and coffee maker, mixer, blender but no large serving spoon and no cheese grater. Amelies other apartment above this one has an island unit in the kitchen giving more worktop space and more cupboard space, this apartment would benefit from being fitted out like that.
There are two full shower-rooms, each one has toilet, sink and shower. This was lucky as the en-suite smelt of drains most of the time, it cleared during the day sometimes but was always bad at night. We simply shut the door on it and used the other bathroom. We reported it to Amelie on the first day of our ten days but nothing was done, perhaps it has been investigated before and it can’t be fixed ?
The apartment is very close to the sea even though you can’t really see it, only a tiny bit from the top roof terrace. This roof terrace is shared with the other apartment which Amelie rents out, there are two very comfortable sun-loungers up there, but not enough if everyone wants to sit there at the same time. The washing machine and plenty of washing lines and pegs are up there too and shared.
The wifi worked fine.
Amelie was helpful in providing local knowledge about the tapas night every Thursday where some of the restaurants provide a tapas and a drink for 2 euros. We went to all the ones she recommended and had a really fun evening.
The town has a nice promenade to walk along the seafront, there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, banks, pharmacy etc. There’s also a sort of natural swimming pool where there’s a rocky wall protecting the beach from the waves, plenty of people snorkelling in there too. Also along the promenade are childrens play equipment and adults gym equipment.
About 10 mins drive inland is a Mercadona, large Hiperdino and Lidl.
There are some sand + pebble beaches here and quieter ones a little way to the North. Some areas amongst the rocks have been created for sunbathing with decked platforms and others with flat concrete. It’s much less touristy here than the big resorts in the south, we drove down there one day and saw the crowds of people and buildings, not for us. The nearest towns with good and not too crowded beaches, and free parking are Playa de Salinetas (18 mins to the North) and San Agustin (20 mins to the south- west).
