This is one of the most beautiful hotels in northern Spain; however it is understaffed and needs better maintenance. Bea, Javier & Miriam were very helpful with the front desk. Marta behind the bar was a great hostess.

We stayed 2 nights while on a wine tour and enjoyed the hotel very much. The decor is fabulous with loads of interesting lighting detail..Our room was spacious and immaculate with a huge bed and lots of pillows...We used the spa twice and it was limited but fine...The breakfast buffet on sunday morning was the best we have ever eaten..other meals were a bit mixed but good overall..There is a lovely comfortable terrace with a range of seating and friendly staff to bring drinks etc...remember to book your car in the car park as space is limited during peak holiday times..overall we would say that the hotel is Expensive but worth it

I stayed here during a recent wine tour of Ribera del Duero and really enjoyed the setting and the decor. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean, although the towel rack was broken so couldn't dry any of our cloths that got wet in the unseasonable rain showers. The price was reasonable, but not great. The breakfast was varied and very tasty. The staff at the check-in desk have to be commended for their helpfulness and local knowledge.

The biggest let down was the price and service in the bar. We had lunch and drinks there, but were disappoimted with the quality and service. Even though the place was not that busy we were left waiting a long time to both order and recieve our food/drinks. Compared to any of the restaurants we ate in the town, the food was only mediocre, and nowhere near as good value as restaurant Coso in the Plaza down town. It is really worth walking down and trying some of the local eateries- you will get much better setting and value-for-money.

Just as disappointing was the spa in the hotel. The cost is €10 for one hour, but it is not worth the money- it is small and when we attended, the massage chair in the very shallow pool was broken. For the price you pay for staying, this facility should certainly be included.

With a little bit of work this hotel could easily get a 5-star rating, but it's not there quite yet.

We stayed for just one night in the beautiful Hotel AF Pesquera in Penafiel and we were extremely impressed: fantastically modern, clean design, extremely comfortable bed, excellent food and very welcoming staff who were more than happy to assist us in arranging a tour of the Pesquera winery.

We felt that two points could have been improved: 1. On the Saturday evening we agreed to dine in the wine cellar restaurant where a wine tasting with special tapas was on offer for a special price. When we arrived, it seemed that there was a confusion among the staff and the wines which had been advertised for tasting were not made available until request. We had been attracted by the degustation menu in the main restaurant, but chose this option because it sounded like there would be a better atmosphere. Instead, it felt like everyone had been sold a special deal and shoved into a second-rate dining experience so that the main restaurant didn't need to be opened that night (indeed, we were told that it was closed when we asked if we could move back upstairs); and 2. There is simply no excuse for the staff clearing the breakfast foods away so promptly at the 11am closing time on a Sunday when they can see that guests, who have paid a not inconsiderable sum for the privilege of staying in the hotel, are still eating. I think this is the height of rudeness and it would obviously not have inconvenienced the staff to wait for 20 minutes to allow us to finish.

Notwithstanding these two points, we are staying in the hotel again soon with a group of friends because its location is perfect, the staff are excellent and the design and comfort levels are among the best I have experienced in Spain, however we will need some persuading before deciding to dine in the hotel itself this time.

I randomly chose this hotel in this little town because friends I was traveling with are wine afficianados. The hotel took our breath away, the service was impeccable, the food exquisite, and Julio, the sommelier, created two beautiful dinners with wine pairings and a wine tasting that we will always remember. The depth of his knowledge was immediately apparent and his wonderful enthusiasm made our stay at AF Pesquera the highlight of our trip to Spain. Then on top of all this, the prices were amazing. Go there, hang out with Julio.

A visually stunning hotel. Great staff. We stayed on a wine tour from Australia and were very well looked after throughout our stay. Only criticism is the bathroom design. Whilst I always hate showers over bathtubs, this particular design was dangerous with respect to falling etc. Otherwise a great stay!

Beautiful hotel with good and friendly staff in the heart of Ribera del Duero. Rooms are big and nicely decorated and the breakfast was excellent. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and also tried the tavern, both nights we ended up having some drinks at the library which is very cozy. The food is OK, nothing very special but quality price is correct (the restaurant was a bit overpriced for what we had). I recommend this hotel!
