“Cool place, nice vibes...”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

I found the hotel very well set up with all the things we needed to enjoy our time in Tobago.
The kitchen had everything we could want and the proximity to all Crown Point had to offer meant we never needed a car until we wanted to explore the other side of that beautiful Island.
There were a lot of birds which was a pleasant surprise being an amateur bird enthusiast and fruit left out meant quite a show as various colorful species jostled for a good place at the banquet. The room was always serviced and tidied after our outings and nothing was ever missing which is always a concern. The manager did ask us to make sure our belongings were out of the way to allow for a thorough service as the staff are told not to touch any belongings.
All in all it was a nice stay and pleasant change. Big thanks to Carolyn for her enthusiasm...

Room Tip: Rooms inside the compound allows for quite the bird show...

The pictures on the internet do no justice to the cosy courtyard of Bananaquit. Once you enter behind the front building , the hustle and bustle of Crown Point seems to disappear, and you wouldnt think you were only 4 minutes away from the airport. We arrived very late, but never the less received a very warm welcome from the Manager.
The staff were always accommodating and efficient. Carolyn was always bubbly and chatty and extremeful helpful with organising tours for us. She even dropped us to the airport on our last day as we had alot of luggage.
This was our third visit to Tobago and our experience at Bananaquit has been the best one so far.

Room Tip: Rm 9 - large patio and beautiful view of garden

I recently visited Tobago with my husband and stayed at Banaquit. I have to say it was the worst decision which we could have made. The room was positively filthy! The sheets were stained and had hair and sand on them, the towels were stained, the floor was stained! To add insult to injury, practically every surface in the room was coated with dust which made it absolutely impossible for me to sleep. We absolutely had to change hotels, it was the worst experience ever. To top it all off, the management took no responsibilty for the condition of the room and did precious little but make flimsy excuses for the terrible conditions. They were absolutely rude, and far from hospitable. Positively disgudting behaviour. You would think considering the fault was their's, one could at least expect a 50% refund. However we were still charged for 3 of the 4 nights we were meant to stay there. Highway robbery at its best. Most awful travelling experience I have ever had. Would not recommend this place to an enemy!

Room Tip: Great location, but you'd have a better time next door at the Store Bay Holiday Resort!

Rachel B, General Manager at Bananaquit Apartments, responded to this review, 22 January 2014
I expected as much from this guest as she was particularly difficult to please. Usually I do not defend myself and appreciate constructive criticism as it helps us to improve our service. BUT if someone is going to go online and slander my hotel’s reputation...then I must respond.
Some things are unavoidable, so if a customer receives less than what is expected from our product, they are refunded accordingly. We do not oversell our rooms with false descriptions and pictures are available on the internet. However, you can never please everyone, so a personal opinion does not warrant a full refund. The previous guests who had to be relocated to accommodate this unhappy person would have been more than happy to extend their stay in this room.
It was unfortunate for this unhappy client that her partner booked an inappropriate room according to her preference. The guest room is not a fancy room, as is always communicated to the customer. It’s a simple cheap room which is part of the old building. When her attempt move somewhere else and receive full refund was denied, all of the above suddenly materialized. However this is one case where I can double verify myself that this room was clean, because I checked it myself and even instructed the housekeeper to thoroughly re-clean the room to remove any doubt and the client was still not happy. So I am 100% behind my staff on this one and find this review quite unfair, and our previous reviews will have to be our saving grace here.

Great location, walking distance from the airport but couldn't hear any planes and it wasn't noisy. Shops are nearby which is good as the apartments have kitchenettes you can use to cook, we didn't but we used the fridge freezer to keep our drinks in and ice for our rum.

Pigeon point beach is about a 20 minute walk away, it gets dark pretty quick this time of year so at half 6 we were walking back in the dark but felt pretty safe to be honest. Went out drinking and dancing later on and walked back to Bananaquit no problem.

Having an apartment was great as we could come and go as we pleased. There were storms the day we arrived so the TV didn't work but that soon sorted itself out, and there were plenty of cable channels. Clean and comfortable beds and decent air con too.

A rugby tour turned up the day before we left, so it was starting to get very noisy which spoiled the tranquility of the place somewhat. Kind of glad we left before it got in to full swing! But that's nothing to do with the owners of bananaquit.

Carolyn who we dealt with during our stay was lovely, very welcoming and chatty. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

My family and I had an amazing stay at the SAMAAN VIEW COTTAGE. The place was very clean ans spacious! From the minute we got there, the staff were so welcoming and we were even driven us to the cottage.
The cottage was bigger than I expected, 3 bedrooms(The rooms are clean and comfortable), 2 baths, kitchen, 2 living rooms,a private pool and not to mention air condition throughout in every room!!
The only issue we had was that only 1 A/C remote was functional, other than that everything was quite fine!!

Overall we had a great vacation and will return!

After a terrible incident at the Conrado Beach Resort in which the staff there tried to rob us with higher rates, my girlfriend and I were left stranded on August 21st with nowhere to stay. Luckily for us Bananaquit had a last minute cancellation and we were able to get a room there.

We were greeted by Rachel and Carolyn who were absolutely busy in getting our room ready for us on short notice. They were very warm and friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room itself was clean, comfortable and had all the essentials for anyone that is looking for great standards without any unnecessary frills. It's in a perfect location in terms of both store bay and pigeon point being walking distance away, as well as the mini mart and various other shops and restaurants in the same location. I will definitely stay there again. Thank you Bananaquit for turning an almost-sour vacation into a great one!
