My father and I went to Tobago and we both agree this is the best place we have ever visited. And we both travel all over the world. The staff was the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. The whole staff. My dad dove 5 days ( there is a dive shop on site). The prices were very reasonable and the food was amazing. The club itself has entertainment and activities and the resort is near many things if you decide to go off site. We loved it so much that we have already reserved a week for next April. They also have the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see anywhere. Simply paradise!!!!!!!!!

Best things about resort - The minimart had lots to chose from, including eggs and fresh fruit and veggies. Prices were reasonable. Elvira's rum punch by the pool twice a week.
It is only a short walk to Store Bay beach. Very nice beach - great for swimming.
The resort has a playground for the kids and the pool has a slide. You can sit at the beach with no worries about vendors ..but you can't really swim there. We felt very safe -- in fact since we were there during carnival they had extra security on site 24 hours. There seems to be some security around all the time, a safe in the room and plenty of locks on the doors
The staff is friendly and helpful. The resort offers internet service -- for a fee - by the hour, day or week - wireless if you have a laptop which worked fine the first week but I was constantly losing their connection the second week.

The resort is sandwiched between a hotel (?) and the Sandy Point Villas .... don't be confused - this one is an RCI Timeshare.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby - We had dinner at the small restaurant onsite many times (run by two local woman who cooked everything) - we enjoyed the fish dinner with lots of veggies and potatoes. Baked, not fried -- thank you very much! The ribs on Thursday are YUMMY!

The shuttle from Crown point airport to the resort is only about $1 US pp .. I made arrangements via email to be picked up...gave them our arrival time, but the shuttle only arrived because he was picking up someone else! They do seem to keep track on a board in the office though so maybe it was because we arrived a day late -- missed the orientation and welcome breakfast (but attended both the second week and had a nice local free breakfast with Elvira). Elvira gave us our own private orientation and we booked several tours.

We had a one bedroom loft. As with many timeshares, they had an inventory list that they asked you to verify. Not an unusual requirement for the smaller timeshares because they have to keep up with the inventory. (and apparently because people "borrow" or break things). Plenty of room for two people - even a family of four. If you are expecting a Marriott or Hilton resort - you will be very disappointed. But if you are looking for a friendly resort run by the locals and owned by the members, this will fit your needs nicely. Since this is apparently the ONLY timeshare on Tobago, it is rated Silver Crown. I would give it a Resort of International Distinction, but not much higher. We have stayed at everything from a Marriott and Embassy Suites to the smallest hotel unit possible and everything in between and this is among the nicest of the resorts we have stayed in on the smaller scale. Everyone here is friendly and helpful.

It is very close to the airport with planes arriving at 6 am .. so you will hear some noise mostly from the prop planes. I walked every morning on the airport perimeter road.

Trip to rainforest. We had a great time -- just the two of us with Leroy - so he took us on a modified route to see more of the island. We were not able to get any snorkeling in because it kept raining. We had a late lunch at the Riverside Restaurant - fish or chicken - it was very tasty - we also had Carib - the Shandy Sorrel was my favorite - tastes like a baked, candied apple..yum. Not sure this trip was worth the $75 US pp, even if we had been able to snorkel.

Trip to Speyside - drove the windward side with Leroy. Were not able to do the glass bottom boat trip because they were closed due to the weather. But we ate at Jemma's Treehouse restaurant - yummy local food - had fish again. Also visited the Argyl Falls - a short walk in - then a climb up for those who want more adventure. We didn't - and did not swim in the pool although the rumor is that if you do you will be ten years younger. Humm. Not sure this was worth the $75 US pp, even if we had been able to snorkel.

Made the mistake of taking a bus to Scarborough $2tt per ticket but the buses only come once an hour .. and even if you are waiting at a bus stop, if you don't stick your hand out - the bus will drive right on by. Even worse -- if the bus is full, it will drive by even if you DO have your hand out. The buses are actually very nice, with AC and curtains to block out the sun...probably because not many people actually get on one..haha Make sure you buy your tickets ahead of time .. they won't let you on with cash. We saw alot of people paying for rides -- you stick out your hand and someone stops to pick you up. apparently there is one signal for a paying rider and one for a true hitchhiker. We did not try that out! Take a taxi for $6tt!!

Went on the mini-tour for $10 US pp. Elvira drove us around to various forts and past some of the local sites that we had not seen on our previous tours. So now we have seen Tobago from one end to the other - crown Point to Charlotteville, and from one side to the other -- Scarborough to Plymouth.

We won one free dive lesson with Big Dougie - (otherwise $70 US pp - OR get certified for $450 US pp) - decided diving was not my thing.

Trip to Arnos Vale to watch the birds and have tea $25 US pp. It was wonderful to see all the different birds, including several varieties of hummers. We went crazy taking pictures.

Trip on Tobago Princess - 4 hours $55 US pp This trip was very pleasant and the lunch was very good ... chicken, swordfish, salad, rice and potato salad. We went to the nylon pool where you could stand in waist deep water and two reefs where you could snorkel. Lunch was at a quiet beach called no mans land. The rum punch was flowing from start to finish. Taxi was provided to and from the boat. The ship was kind of a houseboat shape ... with plenty of room inside and out.

Stayed at Sandy Point BC from Feb 25-28 2009. We stayed in an efficiency unit which sleeps 4-5. I really liked this property. Rooms Clean; Staff Friendly; Hotel Grounds well maintained; Great Bar area. Bartender was knowledgable in mixing all types of drinks. Only had breakfast at the restaurant but the food was good and not overly expensive based on the area. We arrived before the check in time of 3PM and were allowed full use of the property until our room was ready. As well our flight was much later than the check out time of 10AM but again we were allowed to use the property after check out. Yes the inventory process guest must undertake at the start of the stay is long, but not a big deal.

Would definitely stay here again and plan to next year.

Myself and 5 friends went there recently and the problems started even before we got to the 'resort'.
The shuttle we booked was $5tt per person and the driver was impatient, he wouldnt wait for 2 minutes and drove off so we had to make our own way there, which isnt far, but with luggage some could stuggle.
the receptionist wasnt even helpful as we called her and she said she would re-send the shuttle but we would have to pay again...
then when we got there, she said she was sorry, with a nice smile on her face....
the rooms were a little cramped but clean, the bar service at first was terrible, it picked up a little, the last residents garbage was still in the bin the whole room stank, but after we got them to remove it that was the last problem with the room.
housekeeepers were quite unfrindly and like someone else said, the hot tubs were shut at 11...
oh, and if you stay there, make sure and leave all the towels folded up neatly in the cupboard as they check them daily to make sure non are missing.

Management is totally bias, they suddenly created new rules, which only applied to us,we were forced to pay for a six persons apartment when we already paid for a 4 person,we had to pay the difference which was quite alot and we had 2 empty space ,this was complete robbery. Also their check out time is 10.00am which is ridiculous, upon check in there is a long list of items to check which takes forever. Also there is no privacy because staff is always on your back watching your every move,it not a place i would recommend for a family vacation.

Being a time share owner, this was our least desirable place to stay. I'd rate it maybe 3 star. People were wonderful, accomadation Fair, Restraunt poor and expensive. Don't do the BBQ mid week. Also forget the glassbottom boat tour that never went out for rough waters, no discount. Arygle Falls was wonderful. Tabago Princess Boat cruise was well worth the money, a 2/1 deal, very nice people.

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Sandy Point Beach Club. Our stay felt like a cool summer camp experience; very informal, but comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly. One side note - some rooms have murphy beds, but use caution when lowering them. They are extremely heavy and aren't spring-loaded!

Two previous reviewers wrote about security issues at the hotel, so I took the precaution of buying small door and window alarms for the rooms. But my concerns were unfounded. The doors have several locks, and one of them can not be opened from outside. I felt safe enough that I didn't even use the alarms that I brought. Also, there is a constant security presence at the hotel. I noticed while down there that there is another property with a similar name - the reviewers may have mixed up the properties.

My boyfriend had a wonderful introductory diving lesson with Big Dougie, which was one of the highlights of his stay. We also took a tour through the hotel to Speyside for snorkeling, which was enjoyable. I wish that we would've also taken the chartered boat excursion, which received rave reviews from some of the other hotel guests.

One of the best things about the hotel was the location... it was walking distance to Store Bay, the airport, and a lot of restaurants. However, it may be helpful to take a taxi until you learn your way around the area... some places may be easy to miss.

That said, we felt that the food at restaurants were overpriced for very basic food, with relatively small portions. After a few days of experimenting, we started eating local food, which was much more enjoyable (stewed chicken, curry goat, peas and rice, macaroni pie, etc) for a third of the cost.
