Repeatee to this amazing hotel. There is only the word excellent to describe Coco-Reef.
The situation, rooms, cleanliness, serviceand staff(from the top down) all come into that category.

My husband and I stayed at Coco Reef for our anniversary and I can’t stop talking about it.
Everything was perfect, the staff was pleasant and very helpful, our room was amazing and the entire experience was wonderful.
I would recommend Coco Reef to all my friends.

Stayed here for two weeks in April.Tobago is beautiful with lots of places to visit and see.The virgin rep is a star. The independant boat Zoe is well worth the money with the excellent Peter at the helm. The hotel is another matter.
Location-Fantastic 5 mins from airport, beautiful sandy beach with sun loungers.Safe swimming in a man made lagoon great for kids.
Rooms-spacious but very dark.generally clean ,but furnishings were very drab and old with holes in material and moth eaten curtains,I would hesitate to sit on any of the chairs due to splits in cushions, towels were replaced twice a day if required, normally we would not exchange our towels daily but these were of such poor quality, frayed and torn slightly grey, we had to, I have better dusters! The bathroom was in need of an urgent refurb and again quite dark.
Balcony furniture old and tatty.
We had two days without any hot water, guests had to complain before they rectified this
Food-Breakfast average quality but the same every day choice of full english bacon beans and sausage,3 fruits, 3 cereals ham and cheese, two different pastry/buns croissants and an egg station that had very long queues ,
Lunch open air buffet with barbaque again average and lack of variation-barbaque was fish and another eg chicken legs/or ribs with the mandatory burgers[frozen] and hot dogs If it was raining there were not many seats under cover thankfully the hotel was only a third full.
Dinner-this is hyped up to be that of fine dining with men having to wear long trousers etc and on the whole was very good, but not 5 star. As one reveiwee stated "weatherspoons it aint" no I agree but I have never seen any feral flea ridden cats allowed to roam around, jumping up onto chairs while you are eating-on the tables before the guests arrive, in weatherpoons, this was most off putting some guests actually found them endearing- fine but not when I am eating what is supposed to be a 5 star meal. Some nights you could actually see the fleas on the tables yuk
Staff-On the whole they are very polite and helpful and work very hard
repeat guests-this needs a mention as it is a two teir system with the repeaters being given the best tables, immediate attention- even to the extent of the staff getting cushions for the chairs for the repeaters. Not having to pay for keeping on their rooms, better rooms on arrival.different check in.It is good that returning guest are welcomed back, but not to the extent the hotel does it.They have paid the same as us.
Entertainment-was very hit and miss- if they turned up it was extremly poor, finishing at 10 to 10 30
There was very little to do at night as nearly every one went to bed at 10, a little bit like a retirment home!!The staff reflected this as the service for drinks just about stopped.
Overall the hotel is an outdated 3 star place which needs attention, and steering into the 21st century without losing any charm as some caribbean hotels have achieved. It would probably be fine for a short break. The reviews are varied, but do you spend an awful lot of money on the hope that you will be one of the bewitched? -your choice

Being a regular guest at the Coco Reef Hotel for many years (and a general world traveller) l decided to come with a friend. She was blown away with the first impressions of the hotel, staff and arrival drink. When we were shown our room the views were not off the sea or pool . When contacted reception to see if we could change our room, we were told the hotel was full, however the next day the front office manager Natasha Adams contacted us and went out of her way to find us the 'room with a view' she was extremely helpful courteous and nothing was to much trouble. She even had someone to help us move our luggage a real credit to the Hotel. The staff at this Hotel have obviously all been trained to a high standard as it is very reflective in the customer service offered to the guest, the staff all manage to take time out to engage in conversation with you and make you feel very special.

Room Tip: I have stayed in most of the rooms and they are all of a high specification, however l do enjoy the...

In fairness, the overall rating for this hotel should be "good", but not particularly good value for money! The hotel (and particularly Virgin Holidays) suggest that you will be visiting a virtual utopia, but our reality was somewhat different.

First the plus points. The location is quite stunning, with very well kept gardens and beach. The man-made lagoon is perfect for swimming and (if you can get used to the almost constant cacaphony of noise from the resident - at least for the two weeks we were there - seabirds on the breakwater) can help to let your mind just drift away. The staff are, in the main, very friendly and attentive and the food at breakfast and lunch, was generally of a good quality. Our room and the hotel in general, was kept very clean and tidy. We had some problems early on concerning the operation of both our room safe and air conditioning, but both matters were dealt with quickly and efficiently, shortly after being reported.

Now the minus points. We were promised "fine dining" (presumably in the evening) in Tamara's restaurant, but ended up receiving meals that varied from being good, to virtually inedible. Getting a steak cooked to order seemed to be impossible and strangely, for a fine dining experience, the hotel could not provide anything approaching a steak knife! The chef's grand menu descriptions of his nightly efforts were a source of continuing amusement, just a shame that a similar effort couldn't have gone into the quality of the food. Bobster's bar was clearly advertised (both by Virgin and in the hotel's in house guide) as being open until 1:00am, but was always shut by 11:00pm, until I eventually made a polite complaint (in the form of a question as to why) after which, for a few nights, it remained open until around 11:45pm, but those of us who had stayed up to enjoy the privilege were then made to feel clearly unwanted, by such actions as even having the ambient lighting completely turned off, at one stage. Entertainment was described as being nightly (it wasn't great, but we have seen worse), but there were at least three nights during our stay, when nothing appeared! There were a few minor issues which we felt could have been overlooked (such as the bathroom being in serious need of refurbishment and a lack of general maintenance, except painting) if the main aspects of complaint had not existed.

The hotel was probably no more than half full during our stay and our firm belief (not confirmed, understandably, by my conversations with management) is that costcutting is the answer to all of our minus points. We did meet a number of returning holidaymakers, during our stay and they all stated that standards had indeed been higher in previous years, but had fallen and would probably mean that they would not be returning again. Neither will we!

The Hotel is located on a lush well maintained garden with a breathtaking view of the sea. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom villas with a garden view. Upon entry, you are greeted with a welcome drink. From the lobby one can have an unobstructed view of the sea. Check in was simple and effortless as all prior arrangements were made. Check in time was on schedule at 3:00pm and we checked out at 12:00pm The beds in the rooms were neatly decorated with cut mango leaves to make a 'welcome' gesture. I found this to be very unique and appealing. The private beach is the best aspect of this hotel as it provides for a safe and pool like appearance as there are no waves because of the rocks that encircle a portion of the water. Beach chairs are provided for guests' use. They also have complementary non motorized water sports such as kayaking available. There is no restriction on the use of the beach but however, there are no lifeguards on duty so you use it at your own risk. All rooms include buffet breakfast including some of my favourites: omelets, french toast, pastries and pancakes. A local breakfast was also available. The breakfast was really tasty. I wish I could have stayed longer because the place is so well maintained and manicured. We had a slight problem with mosquitoes but as soon as we called reception they brought citronella candles and the problem was quickly averted. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the airport and next to Store Bay Beach Facility. Good location, great Food and beautiful views!

Room Tip: For 4 persons a villa is ideal as there are all the major appliances in the kitchen as well as a sit...

A little limited on the food options, but I find this a problem everywhere I go being vegetarian. Helpfull staff and an unlimited supply of virgin pina-coladas, together with the private beach made this short trip one I enjoyed.
