This was our third visit to Coco Reef, we last visited 6 years ago. Nothing had changed, the food, beach & service was excellent as we had remembered.

The hotels location is one of the best we have experienced with the private beach and sea being shallow and safe to swim in for all abilities.

The hotel is now approaching 20 years old and it's age is starting to show, it would benefit from new furniture, bedding & bathroom suites to bring it back to its former glory. The hotel is always very clean!

If you want to come to tobago for a great location, good food, safe beach for kids with a house reef filled with tropical fish. This is the place for you. If a modern room and Internet access is more important then I would recommend the magdelana grand.

Looking forward to a return visit!

Room Tip: The rooms over looking the pool are best, with a sea view, quiet and not too far away from the centre of the hotel.

Coco reef hotel is a hotel in Tobago. It is about 3 minutes drive from the ANR Robinson Airport and walking distance from Storebay where you can partake of local cuisine. There is free parking on the compound. The ocean view rooms have spectacular views.

For the business traveller, the Internet service can let you down and the signal may never reach your room. The lighting in the room is not for heavy reading. There is a reading room just by the reception but only one computer was working. On mornings the demand for the computer can be heavy.

There is a private pool in the sea for hotel guest but this overlooks the dining room and is not very private.

The hotel could do with a bit of upgrade . It started off as a five star hotel and is now a three star. Simple things like upgrade of the towels and the mattresses would make a big difference.

The staff are very well trained and are consistently courteous, their response time was wonderful...

Room Tip: There is no elevator or escalator at the hotel so if you are disabled or have an issue climbing stairs choose a ground floor room. The air condition units have a light which could disturb those who need to sleep in complete darkness.

Probably not out of sink with the rest of Tabago all abit old and faded. Staff very nice. Pool poor. Sea lagoon nice.

Stupid rules like having to wear full trousers in resturant at night (30 degrees C and 80 percent humidity) which was very basic in any case - so last century!

Worst of all would not vall airline on our behalf unless charging $5 a min.

Very Expensive for what it was.

Would not return or recommend.

You can do a lot better than this!

Room Tip: Don't stay

We have just returned from the coco reef with our 2 girls aged 6 and 8 yrs, we had one of our most chilled holidays ever. Tobago is a very laided back & friendly island where everyone says hello. Coco reef itself epitomises this ethos. She is an old Caribbean lady of a hotel were you still wear trousers for dinner, my husband was reluctant but he forgot his misgivings when he tasted the excellent food. The staff all work as a team & give a very personal service where nothing is too much trouble. They learned our girls names and made them feel very special.

The highlight of our week was the round the island tour with Steven from the hotel. He does personal day tours for 150 US dollars & is worth every penny. His enthusiasm for the hotel and his island are infectious. He made sure he had snacks for the girls, drinks and even surprised them with ice cream, & us with lovely flavoured shandy! His driving was very safe & he dropped us at Jemma's for lunch for local food with a great view(extra). Nothing was too much trouble & the water fall was great.

The hotel itself is on a stunning beach & within walking distance of crown point for boats to bucco reef & nylon pool (the boat Miss jo did a good trip) and also pigeon point. We choose all inclusive & were not disappointed. All restaurants & cafe coco had great service & food quality. The rooms themselves are what you see in the photos. In need of a refresh but very clean with old fashioned Kane furnishings. Our room didn't smell and was cleaned sometimes twice a day with refreshed towels as we needed. Our girls loved the pool & we found it clean.
Cocos strengths are its position, beach, food, atmosphere and its staff. If you don't need a pristine room you will have found one of the most relaxing hotels in the Caribbean. We will hopefully be back.
