For us, Gingerbread Hotel was a must. We stayed three nights in the Garden of Eden room. It has an open top shower (screened of course). Very comfortable and great shower.
We found the best thing about the Gingerbread Hotel was the food. After the first night, we were looking forward to the next meal. No menu other than a chalk board at the front door. I did not see until the next day. Eyal the proprietor describes each dish in such a way you can almost taste it. We were not disappointed in any of the dishes we had. The mushrooms were our favorite.
Eyal's personality is not for everyone. He tells it like it is but so do I. We enjoyed his company and the expats each night at the restaurant. We would recommend it highly and will make a special trip back when we return to Costa Rica.More
