I Stayed in this place twise and the "barn" the americans in the other review wrote about is actually a barn, but thats the beauty of this place. A wonderful room in an old barn, with old furniture, some especually brought here from France!
If you are a person with a lot of money and no taste or feeling for the beauty in life, then you shouldn't stay in this place. Try a traditional 5 star hotel instead. This is a real alternative place, thats why many famous writers and art personality's stay here. You can meet them all at the WONDERFUL breakfast, you all sit together at the long table. The owner is an amazing french lady, just taken fron another time and place. This is a real gem!

This was our third trip to the island of Faro and the first time we stayed at Slow Train B&B. We stayed at Slow Train for three days and enjoyed our stay very much.
As we arrived and waited for a few moments on the small veranda we had a chance to have a peek at the breakfast room and soon realized that in terms of decor, Scandinavian pared down minimalism is not the thing here. On the contrary, the breakfast room/common area was furnished with antique and second-hand furniture with every surface laden with quirky memorabilia of decades past. The gloom of the rainy day we arrived on was immediately cast aside with the pleasure of exploring this treasure trove of a house. The decor created with a happy mix of a little bit of everything is bound to make you smile. We had a lovely triple room on the second floor of the main building and shared a brand new bathroom with another room on the same floor.
However, the best treat was the utterly amazing breakfast served each morning. We were sorry not to be able to stay one more day just to enjoy the lovely feast again. The other thing we liked is the fact that while renovated and comfortable, the house still retains its character and atmosphere.
There was a large garden with apple trees and a barbecue available for the guests. A fenced vegetable garden near the house was overgrown but would offer a lovely feature if looked after properly. The hotel and the creperie and music bar on the other side of the road are certainly a challenge to be family-run, but they are, at least for the traveller, the heart and soul of Faro.

Our favourite rituals on the island include driving to the lighthouse and from there walking to the Norsta Aura beach. Each time we also cycle to the windy stone beach of Langhammars to collect fossil stones and to have a picnic. Enjoying coffee and pastries and shopping for bread at Sylvi’s döttrar bakery is a also a must. On the main island close to Faro we love the small island of Furillen with a lovely white road perfect for walking or cycling. We recommend leaving the car at the hotel by the old lime quarry. Other lovely spots on the main island but still close to Faro we discovered on this trip are café Stenungsbageriet in Rute and the gallery and shop Skulpturfabriken in Slite.

We found a peaceful place on Faro close to the Baltic Sea with very nice and helpful staff. In fact, we liked it so much that we came back this year too.
We have had two different rooms, both very beautiful and roomy. One of the best things about this place is the fantastic breakfast served downstairs in suberbly decorated room full of items filled with nostalgia. Or, you can eat your breakfast in a big garden with many fruit trees, very nice on sunny mornings.
It is a nice and quiet place, except when a lot of traffic from the ferry passes by, which is brief but still an annoyance
It is close to nice beaches with white fine sand and brackish water, in ten minutes by car you have several to choose between (wind direction determines the water temperature). Several restaurants nearby, two within walking distance, serving good food, indoors or outdoors.
Great walking paths along the sea. Take the car to the stone formations, rauks, at Langhammars or the moving sand dunes at Hau or several other great places, ask the friendly staff at Slow Train. Or walk over to Kutens Bensin, often with live music from the 1950's

On arriving at this Bed&Breakfast with a cute website, we were genuinely shocked to discover our room resembled a cellar/sheep pen. Maybe this sounds a little overdramatic? If so, picture a long, narrow rectangular room at the bottom of a barn, gloomy and dank, smelling distinctly of mould, with tiny windows at each end that don't open. The room was not particularly cheap.

To be fair the other rooms in the Bed&Breakfast may be entirely different (none were available to switch to), but judging from the decor in the room and in the main building's reception and breakfast area, a lot of thrift furniture/carpets the wrong side of the charming/dirty line have been used.

The staff/owners are sweet, if disorganized about confirming reservations, and at least let us cancel our stay without paying. (We were glad as mould gives us streaming noses and itchy throats.) We're not fussy travellers but do look for somewhere to stay that's clean and not depressing.

After investigating other accommodation on Faro, and contending with the supremely unhelpful staff at the Tourist Office, it struck us that places to stay there are both hard to come by and unimpressive. Visit Faro for the day but stay on Gotland itself, which has an unfounded reputation for being touristy but really isn't once you get away from Visby. Lindvide B&B was great, for example.
