Posada Cavieres Wine Farm

We always spend a long time searching for that perfect combination of a small and intimate setting which offers privacy or the option to interact with the hosts and other guests and that feels like you're in the middle of nowhere but is actually pretty close to every where you want to visit. Cavieres was definitely the right choice!

We spent an exceptional 5 days there, including New Year's Eve. The setting is beautiful with the posada nestled up against the vines and surrounded by various fruit trees and flanked by olive orchards. Wines and drinks are at the ready from the honor bar to enjoy on your little patio off your room overlooking the vineyard. Hammocks abound for chilling in and bikes are available to tour around the local bodegas.

Hans and Alina make wonderful hosts and are always willing to help out, offering suggestions, making reservations, or whipping up dinners. We had a car and it is extremely easy to get around and explore bodegas and mountains and whatever else you wish in the area. All is relatively close from maybe 30 minutes to Mendoza City and airport to maybe 1.5 hrs to Valle de Uco.

Each morning a delicious almost-entirely-homemade breakfast is served where you can get to know the other guests and enjoy the cool morning air.

We spent New Year's Eve there, too, and Hans made a great asado and Alina everything else and we had an awesome time with them and the other guests eating, drinking, lighting off fireworks and getting pummeled by a 10 minute hail storm. Perfect way to ring in the new year.

Highly highly recommended as a home base for exploring the Mendoza wine region!

We are really late getting this review out. The place was amazing. Hans/Alina/Tomy...
Great hosts and a really enjoyable place to stay. The posada is off the beaten path and not close to the city center. Most people would need a car to get around. You can rent a bike or walk. Hans is good about recommending places to visit and great about calling around.
The nights are so quiet and peaceful, we gained some youth back from the peaceful sleep.
Enjoy your time here!!!

I could go on and on about how incredible Hans is, and how helpful he was in helping us plan our vinyard touring, restaurant tasting, and general sightseeing. He is extremely knowledgeable about all of it, and took tons of time out of his days to go over maps and lists with us. We have traveled far and wide and tend to stay at B&Bs, and we have NEVER had such attentive service from the innkeeper. This is by far and away the best place to stay, at the best price, in and around Mendoza. Especially true if you are interested in touring the vinyards -- Cavieres is located literally in the middle of all the best Maipu has to offer, and is a quick and easy drive to Lujan and Valle de Uco.

Cavieres is small but there are some nice ammenities, including hammocks, bikes to rent, and a kitchen which can be used by guests. Alina serves an absolutely DELICIOUS, homemade (truly homemade -- breads, jams, honey, museli, fresh fruit, fresh yogurt) breakfast that is unmatched by any of the other three B&Bs we stayed in while traveling in Argentina. The property is beatiful -- rows of grape vines, surrounded by olive and pear trees. There´s also Tommy, a sheepdog with the most delightful disposition.

We came to Mendoza for the wine, and Posada Cavieres made it ever sweeter!

This B&B was a highlight of our tripI It was a very pleasant setting to relax in, in the middle of wine country. Vineyards are on the property and a bike ride away. There are 3 rooms that are clean and have their own baths. The bed had a new mattress with wonderful bedding. We only stayed one night, as we discovered it last minute. We would have loved to have spent more time there. It was booked at least a week in advance so book early We would stay there again in a second and bring our extended family we liked it so much. It is much bettered positioned to see the smaller and larger vineyards then Mendoza where we started. Hans and Alina are extremely welcoming and inclusive. We joined them for a family barbeque which was a treat to experience local food. Hans plans wonderful trips that we will take part in next time, all that they do is quality. They are a class act.

We just returned from our trip to Argentina and I had to jump on and post something about our delightful stay at Posada Cavieres. Hans and Alina are the best hosts ever and thanks to Hans' tips and detailed maps, we were able to and do much more than we would have been able to on our own. Upon arriving (tired and hungry) we were warmly welcomed and from that moment on, felt like we were staying with friends. The posada is very comfortable and the grounds are outstanding. I was happy when we returned each day early from our sightseeing so I would have a chance to just sit outside and enjoy the views of the surrounding vineyard. The guys in our group also enjoyed "just hanging out" with Hans as well! We already miss it!

Really charming three-room posada in a refurbished adobe building, with a wonderful warm welcome from Alina and Hans. Great dinners on request (we dined twice). An excellent starting point for cycling around the bodegas of Maipu - but do be careful to check their opening times as despite Hans' guidance we got stuck for a couple of hours around midday without managing to even buy a bottle of water. Rooms got quite cold at night in the winter, especially the bathroom. Got jumped on by Tommy, the large dusty dog - if you don't like dogs you might be uncomfortable staying here. Otherwise, Alina and Hans are doing lots of things right and deserve to be very successful.

Thanks for the nice comments. About the cold rooms, we replaced the heatblowers which were not programmable by flat heat panels in all the rooms and bathrooms. These are low energy and connected to a thermostate maintaining a constant and programmable temperature in each individual room and bathroom.

Well we stayed here 1 night.... The owner had arranged a wine tour with another group, and when we arrived, he warmly invited us to come alone even though we hadn't reserved a spot. The wine tour was fantastic, including a chance to crush grapes! We were a bit surprised that we got charged for the wine tour at the end since we were invited, but it is a minor detail

The property is beautiful, with cozy and charming rooms..very spacious, clean, well maintained.. Dinner is available upon request for something around $10 -15/person, and it was delicious! My wife was vegetarian and she was accommodated. There aren't two many places too nearby to eat, especially at night when it gets kinda dark, so you have to plan it out. One of the travelers used the kitchen to make his own meal. The owner is starting a vineyard on premises, so it really is a beautiful property. We borrowed two bikes and went biking along the main road, and discovered some bodegas and a hidden gem of a gourmet restaurant, though we didn't have enough time.

The value for the money is good. The place is beautiful. And we thought it was a more rustic and natural experience compared to Mendoza.
