Ngwenya River Lodge has a spectacular setting and the view from the deck of La Fera just adds to the overall beauty and tranquility. We could have spent the whole morning, relaxing in the sun while watching the world go by from their deck whilst enjoying a bite to eat.
To get said bite, we seated ourselves as no one paid us any attention when we walked in and then I had to hunt down a waiter. I gave him our order whilst standing at their waiters station. We didn't see him again until our drinks arrived with only one more visit to our table when the food was ready. To get the bill I had to go look for him and I had to take the bill folder back to him to make payment. And it wasn't just our waiter- the others didn't seem too concerned with service either.
The coffee was poor- like they had reused the beans a few times, but the hot chocolate was decadent and our breakfasts were good- I rather enjoyed my pancakes!
SO the view is amazing, the food is tasty but their service lets the whole experience down flat.
