If you are in a mood for a great pizza, Sandzibar is the place. Beautiful sunny afternoon, lots of boats on the water, perfect place for lunch. Service is slow and not very attentive. But that didn't stop me for coming back twice.

We visited at the Flamingoes this past March. We are always looking for a new place to have dinner. The concierge at the hotel recommended this restaurant stating that it had been closed and now reopened. So, a short cab ride later we arrived. It is situated right on the bay next to a beach club that is private and part of the Alamar Condominiums. The public beach in out front of the restaurant. The place is large and very well decorated. There is an open air dining platform that is sort of like a peninsula going out toward the bay with numerous tables and chairs. We were seated at the very front of this area overlooking the beach. After ordering drinks the public beach became "active" with adults and small children yelling and running around. Not conducive to a quiet dining experience. We asked to move and were immediately accommodated. I would recommend not sitting close to the beach but farther back on the peninsula or in the main dining area. Just our preference. The service was excellent and the food very good. We had fish and it was well prepared. What was interesting was we were the only customers the entire time we were there and the place is not small. Don't know if it was the day of the week or what but found it unusual. Every place we have gone to has been well attended so wondered why no customers. Atmosphere, food and service was good. As we were told the place had recently reopened in the last several months so maybe the word has not got out as yet. We were told the owner operates two other restaurants in the area. Don't know the names. Anyway, it's worth a try. Enjoy

We rang in New Year's 2013 at Sandzibar, and enjoyed it so much we had been meaning to go back for months now. When we had been there last, we were given to understand that if you come for lunch, you can stay on and use the pool/loungers of the adjoining Alamar Beach Club (gorgeous).

Yesterday was so clear, sunny and HOT - the perfect day for lunch at the beach and time at a beach club. We got a perfect table overlooking the beach and the bay and the (canned) music was great (Spanish guitar and "Gypsy Kings" style music).

Our server was a lovely lady who looked after us well. She made my husband excellent margaritas, and I enjoyed their house sauvignon blanc. We ordered their Kobe beef burger with goat cheese and "fragrant fries" (very nicely seasoned with herbs), and their Italian sausages with grainy mustard and daikon salad (added fries). It was a perfect lunch in a perfect setting.

After lunch, our server got us all set up by the Alamar Beach Club pool - brought our drinks over, including an ice bucket for my wine. We settled in on our loungers and took a dip in the pool (the water was so warm as to not be refreshing) and were approached by a Beach Club server who wanted our "room number.' We explained we weren't Beach Club members, just "day pass" users and he explained that was not permitted. Uh oh. A European manager then showed up who spoke English and politely explained the situation - there are no longer any "day pass" arrangements available for the public, the beach club is totally private.

I am sharing this story because of what happened next. The Sandzibar restaurant people felt awful about the mix-up and us getting kicked out of the pool, and hastened to set us up on padded teak loungers at the beach right next to/in front of the restaurant. In the wink of an eye, they had two loungers, a table, my wine in ice, and a huge beach umbrella set up for us near the breaking waves. A great solution and we really appreciated their quick solving of the problem.

This is a wonderful getaway spot, and we'll be back to the restaurant and its own, genuine "beach club"!

What a great surprise ! My husband and I were walking the beach at playa Manzanilla and saw the set up for a huge party. We went in and found this jewel of an area that had a nice restaurant and bar. We were not invited to the private party, but did go there the next evening. It was fabulous. Outside, listening to the ocean and a guitarist playing set the mood. The drinks were great and the food even better. We all had fish or shrimp and each dish was superb. My daughter got a little chilly, and before we could turn around a portable heating unit was placed next to her. This was a great evening of beauty, wonderful food, and reasonably priced. Our best meal in Mexico by far. We will definitely return the next time we are in the .
