My visit to Simply Baku and the village of La Cruz was really special. I’m a seasoned traveler and visit Mexico regularly. This trip has been most memorable. Mike and Marianne share their love of Mexico through their beautiful and serene Simply Baku beachfront resort.

Our casita was right on the beach, beautifully decorated and comfortable, the beach just steps away. Very close to the marina and the fantastic Sunday market, a short walk takes you to the village with many local tiendas. There are many good restaurants and most important a local music scene that you can enjoy every night. We got to know so many interesting people going out and listening to music.

Very private and quiet, if just doing nothing but enjoying the beautiful beach and breeze is what you want to do, Simply Baku is heaven!!

Marianne starts you out with Nancy’s wonderful guacamole and some brewskies. There are coffee beans available and anything else that you might need, all you have to do is ask. Nancy will clean and refresh your room each day….. and make more guacamole for you, if you leave the fixings for her.

If you are looking for a very special place to relax, eat wonderful food, hear great live music and experience a real Mexican village, come to La Cruz and stay at Simply Baku. I promise you an adventure you won’t forget.

My husband and I escaped rainy Seattle for a week of sun in La Cruz. We chose this destination due to its proximity to the big Marina at La Cruz at which our friends were staying on their boat. We opted for more comfortable accommodations and Baku was ideal. Each of the four beachfront casitas are well situated just a few steps from the beach, and clustered around a modest but refreshing pool. Each casita is a perfect size and set up for a couple, with a very comfy king sized bed. If you're not a couple, the open shower (open to the rest of the bathroom, and no doors just carefully placed walls separating the bathroom from the rest of the room) may be an issue for some guests. The room has great ceiling fans, which were absolutely silent, so no annoying rattling during the night. The nights were cool and comfortable, and even with the window shutters open during the night, no bugs to worry about. The kitchen was nicely equipped, and I loved the daily maid service who did the dishes. Each guest is given, upon arrival, a dish of home made and extra tasty guacamole and tortilla chips, and a few Coronas lie in wait in the fridge. The casita was beautifully decorated, great colors and charming artworks. If you're there on a Sunday, be sure to go to the big Sunday morning market , some good food items, and above average Mexican handicrafts.

Marianne picked us up at the airport, and did a great job looking after us. We celebrated my birthday at Baku, and my friends and family had worked with Marianne to surprise me with breakfast on my birthday , and a personal chef-prepared dinner on a subsequent night. It was a great present, and Marianne was a great help to the gift givers !

The beach is beautiful, and surprisingly empty. For now. Baku is on a unique stretch of beach, mostly devoid of development, beach vendors, and restaurants playing loud music. A healthy walk down the beach will get you those things if you want them. We opted for dinner in town a few nights, all very close to the hotel, and very reasonably priced. We just enjoyed the beach time, did lots of reading , and the wifi worked great so email and streaming video worked. Yes, you can use Netflix there! Our casita also had some books to borrow, mostly light beach reading, which was perfect. Note that if you need more books, or don't want to carry finished books back home, find YaYa's restaurant. Breakfast served all day, and a huge book exchange area.

For a quiet, romantic holiday, I highly recommend Baku. It's far enough away from Puerto Vallarta that you'll feel like you're in a different world.

We weren't expecting what we got. The photos on the listing cannot truly capture the beauty, serenity and magic of Simply Baku.

Our Casita #1 was steps from the sand beach. Large double doors opened to our own private patio, beach side. Coffee in bed in the morning and looking out to the ocean was like watching the Nature Channel: fishing boats coming in with the morning catch; frigates diving for fish, gentle breezes stirring palm trees. Heaven!

Artistically decorated casitas have all the amenities you need: a fully eqiuipped kitchen, walk in shower, lots of storage, a comfy built in sofa, ample towels and bed linens refreshed daily. The maids even do up your dishes. We couldn't have been more comfortable and spoiled!

Owners Marianne and Mike are super gracious and helpful. Whether you want to socialize with guests in the other casitas or totally chill out, you are going to love it here. We can hardly wait to go back.

Room Tip: Casita #1 or #4 are right on the beach. #2 and #3 are slightly set back and have a view of the lush...

Loved this place! Quaint, lovely, romantic...sits right on the beach and you can enjoy a view of the ocean, feel the breeze and be lulled to sleep with the mesmerizing sound of waves - all from your King sized bed. Would recommend to any couple looking for romance and relaxation. Easy bus ride to Puerto Vallarta and all it's big city amenities, but a great place to get away from the big city chaos. Owners are very accomodating to include picking you up and droping you off at the airport. Each cabana is wonderfully decorated. Great restaurants in town (check out Tacos on the Street).

Not really a good place for families with children.

My husband and I spent 5 days at Simply Baku in November. The weather was perfect - high 80s.

Marianne's cabanas are immaculately kept and gorgeously decorated. The modest, customized service that they provide make for a wonderful, relaxing vacation.

The area is also great. La Cruz boasts a number of good restaurants and a quaint, intimate community. We also spent a day in Punta de Mita ( Islas Marietas are spectacular).

Highly recommended!
