“Looks were deceiving!”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

Beautiful place, huge villas, nice staff and wonderful pool!!! BUT....the problem began the first night after we checked into our 2 room villa. There is a 3rd room over the master bedroom that was locked and can be rented out on it's own. There was a couple in that room who walked and talked all hours of the night and day. I'm a light sleeper and I could even here conversations, dishes being washed, the television show they were watching, etc.... SO we asked to be moved to a condo. "No problem" they said ... until we started to pack and they called back and wanted $300 for the "upgrade" but they would make it $100 for our "inconvenience". WHAT??? First you say "yes", then you try to tack on $....that is really bad business!! They moved us to another villa for "no extra charge" and said there would be "no one above us for the rest of our stay". They lied. They called a day later and said there would be a single guest above us that they "know" won't be loud. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I heard every foot step, every door that opened and closed, and once again the television. Even though property is one of the most beautiful in the areas, I would not go back.

Every thing was great and beyond what we expected. I had a two bed room with three bathrooms and a studio all had private bathroom. Living room and Kitchen wall opened to the outside and both of the bedrooms wall opened up to the outside. We received an newsletter each day for drink specials and beach ideas. Room was ready and clean when we arrived, and then cleaned everyday. We purchased food for our villa and the staff helped us deliver to the room. The pools were the perfect temperature, drinks were great, towel serves at the pool with a great view of the ocean. We did eat at the beach club which had great food, loungers, Tvs and clean bathrooms and showers, beach here was rocky, but worth the try since the shuttle was free round trip.

Nancy and Maggie answered all of our questions, and helped us arrange for airport shuttle, food suggestions, and much more.

We were given a choice of smells for our villa, which we went with green tea, hair dryer, towels, iron, pots and pans, cleaning supplies, safe weight scale, soaps, lotions, full size conditioner & shampoo, washer and dryer, bottled water every day at bed side and chocolates on pillows. Private pool, Charcoal grill dining table inside and outside with lounge chairs.

It is a 40 min ride to beach area of Puerto V.; 15 mins to Sayulita- Great place for shopping, surfing and food; 20 mins to airport. Mega Shopping store 10mins great food and drink deals if you do not use the Villa shuttle most cabs will wait for you while you shop.

FYI I used RCI to book hotel, we did not have any timeshare pitches or harassment.

We stayed here over New Years (2013-4). I love this place. I agree with every word that has been written positively by others. The facility is immaculately kept, the employees are attentive and it truly is a relaxing vacation when you visit Puerto Bahia. We ate in the restaurant several times and were very pleased with the food and the service is excellent. They are very flexible in their menu and will prepare special requests if you have them.

This resort is not on the beach. However it is in the mountains and looks toward the bay. If you want to go to the beach, they are building a beach club and it is supposed to have a swimming pool. I love the swimming pools on the property. They are infinity pools with many available umbrellas for use. There is a section where you can actually sit in the pool on your beach chair which is nice. The hottub is infinity also I think.

The resort is hilly, but they will drive you anywhere on golf carts if you are unable or prefer not to walk.

Our room was beautiful - what I really liked about it was the small den are which could be used for children to play video or watch their own TV in. A child could sleep in that room also. I love the rooftop area also. Just to sit and read and relax. If you have special requests for your room you can contact them and they will get things ready for you.

The resort offers a shuttle into LaCruz (the closest little town) several times a day...to the beach club or where ever you might want to be dropped off along the way. You have to find your way back...taxi is easiest, however it would be possible to walk if you were of the right constitution. (My husband and I walked from Bucerias to the resort - so we are heavy-duty walkers). They also offer shuttle to Walmart and the grocery store on certain days, the return trip is on you. This has to do with the taxi rules in Mexico.

On Sundays in LaCruz they have a farmers market/craft sale which is very nice. You can eat there and purchase food for the week. There are also many good restaurants in LaCruz...a very good place to eat is a place called Tacos on the Street. They have 3 menu items and one dessert - it is an open air restaurant. Very unique.

Bucerias is close by and lots of stuff to do. Puerto Vallarta is farther...I would say this is not really a Puerto Vallarta vacation - it is a vacation where you see and experience small, safe Mexican towns and local foods rather than large city hustle bustle and chain restaurants.

This is a new facility - it's first phase is just completed. They are building additional phases and are supposed to have extra restaurants added. And extra pools. And walking trails.

You will have a small pool in your unit (I believe all units have them). In the units where the pool is on the roof, they are smaller. Actually more the size of a hottub. These are not heated.

I will mention that the week we visited was unnaturally rainy/cloudy. However, the pool was heated and we found ourselves hanging out there for very long periods even though there wasnt any sun. I applaud the managers for realizing that it is not fun to be on vacation and have rain and a cold pool. What was actually a negative situation became a positive because of the desire to serve and please those who are staying there.

I will comment on the comments about promises made and not kept to buyers of properties - be it timeshare or otherwise. This is about ANY property. My comment is JUST BE CAREFUL. The salesmen you encounter are generally not part of the resort. The resort has contracted with their sales company to sell units.

Glad to answer other questions about this resort. Just message me.

This resort is beautiful, secluded, and just what I wanted. It is stunning in it's surroundings as it is nestled in the mountains. Secluded in a wonderful, sexy way. Near a great town called Bucereas. Complete with men's hockey games in the middle of this charming town. Really good restaurants also. Just a half hour ride to Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Bahia Resort and Spa is just an amazing get away complete with our own infinity pool. Everything was immaculate. We were treated like royality.

Had a great, relaxing stay. The resort was great for adults, probably not so much for children as they don't have what I consider a children's pool, but they have a beach club that would be great that is a shuttle ride away. The resort has a fantastic spa and great dining on site as well and a very friendly staff. We stayed in the tower at the top of a hill which was steep but the property provided carts o haul you up or down at a moments notice. It is outside o PV far enough to consider a car rental if you are up for driving in Mexico, I had no problems.

Room Tip: All rooms face the water so no problem with bad views.

Sales person made a promise about the room we required but when we arrived they assigned us a very small room very different. My pregnant wife and my 2year old baby wait almost 1 hour to get an estupid offer about "an upgrade" in a room which I expected to get in first place and also with en extra cost!!! I simply leave that place. My family's time is so valuable that I'm no willing to waste it in that way. I spent more money on my family's vacations just to see them happy. Money is not a problem as I can afford it. But it is really dissapointed this hotel lie to you just to get a few money. I never get my money back and since last week when I went to the sales office to make my complain, they, again, promised me to respect the agreement and they will be send it to me in written form, something I'm still waiting....this bussiness is not honest!! better to be in Grand Occidental Nuevo Vallarta, there you will receive what you paid of.

My (adult) daughter and I spent a week at Puerto Bahia recently. It is a fairly new resort that is still growing and expanding although there was not any active construction when we were there. The staff at this resort were amazing, extremely helpful, polite and accommodating to your every need. We staying in a huge 2-bedroom villa that had 2.5 bathrooms. Actually, it was way more room than we needed. Full kitchen, living room, dining room and 3 patios made this a very spacious villa. The patio off of the kitchen also has a charcoal grill and private pool, along with 2 lounge chairs. Amazing!
We had daily housekeeping and nightly turndown service. The place was immaculate as was the pool area. There are two pools, one normal temp and one that is heated. We used the on-site restaurant a couple times and the food was excellent. We also had massages at the spa. Of course, massages are always a bit pricey at resorts such as this but we had excellent massages. I personally would recommend Luis, if you like deep tissue massages.
The only negative that I would say about this resort is that it is not close enough to a town to walk. They do offer shuttles into town which is helpful but you need to take a taxi back to the resort ($7). The restaurant choice in La Cruz is a bit limited and besides eating, there really isn't much to do in this small town. Busarias is about 8-10 miles from the resort and there are many more restaurant choices and 'vendor alley' to browse the local goods.
Overall, exceptional resort that I will definitely return to. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a quiet place to relax that is top quality.

Room Tip: We were in Esmeralda 137A which is the villa closest to the common pool area and restaurant. We lov...
