“Great hotel in Becici”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Our first hotel in lovely Montenegro was this large hotel. Clean, big rooms, food was great with a lot of choices, no way one could taste all the dishes. The view from the hotel is great especially from the swimming pool. Vey fast and efficient elevators.

The hotel is far from stari grad Budva - If you take a taxi use the hotel to order back and force otherwise taxi drivers may rip you off. 3 taxis for my group took 3 times more than the real price.

Room Tip: Far from the swimming pool where there are performances every night which are noisy sometimes.

My husband and I spent a week half board here and were overall, very impressed. Yes, the hotel is showing some signs of age (slight rusting of metal work and the exterior could benefit from a coat of paint) but the rooms and public areas are imaculate as are the gounds. The buffet for both breakfast and dinner had plenty of choice and the show kitchen restaurant is very well run. Becici is a great family resort, nice restaurants for lunch or if you fancy a night out. Great holiday

Hotel is very good and has excellent food and beach. Staff is very nice. And we really enjoyed. It is connected with own beach by certain pedestrian bridge. Beach is excellent and very calm. Room is nice but plain. We didn't like the simplicity of it. Bathroom is nice dough.

We have almost completed a two week stay at The Queen of Montenegro. The hotel is situated on the hillside overlooking the bay and Sveti Stefan island. All staff are polite and very welcoming and the hotel is spotless at all times. We stayed half board and found the food to be plentiful with plenty of variety to suit all tastes. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a supermarket very close by. On the downside, twice we returned to our room after being away for the day to find our door had been left open, when reported the complaint was treated with a half hearted apology. We were also charged for drinks that we had not ordered but this was swiftly attended to and the mistake rectified to our complete satisfaction. The pool area is lovely and there were always sunbeds available no matter what time we arrived, it was so nice not to see sunbeds reserved with towels and no occupants for hours! It is an easy walk to the beach, the 96 steps from the bridge are a breeze but much more of a challenge when returning in the 33 degree heat. Sunbeds on the beach were purchased from reception at 10 euros for two plus umbrella. The bus service or Mediteran Express runs frequently from just outside the hotel and is very good value. We used this. Ethos to visit Budva and Kotor. We also enjoyed two excellent excursions, The Beauty of Montenegro and a boat trip around the Bay of Kotor. It really is worth getting out and about to appreciate the stunning scenery this country offers. Overall we had a wonderfully relaxing holiday and would most definitely return to this hotel.

Stayed for 4 nights while visiting Montenegro, Bosnia and Albania. Very good position , clean and comfortable rooms . Restaurant was very good with buffet having wide range of food but when the food was replaced it was often of a different type( and in my opinion lesser quality) e.g. when the halibut ran out hake took its place - hence early attendance is strongly recommended. The hotel is a favourite for large weddings and that impacts the hotel food service as the range offered is then redeuced as the kitchens focus on the wedding . If they tell you a big wedding is being held my advice is eat out. There are plenty of good beach side restaurants . A plus point on the disruption was that breakfast was served on an outside terrace which was very pleasant . I found the breakfast buffet very good . Access to the sea is via 96 steps and by a bridge across the main road so not ideal for a dip in the very inviting sea if you're past your prime. There are plans to erect a new hotel between the hotel and the sea which is likely to have a detrimental effect on the views from the hotel .

Room Tip: Try to get a sea facing room as many look inland .

Just returned from this lovely hotel. Facilities are great, indoor and outdoor pools, spa, nice bar with outdoor stage area and seating, plus great view out to sea. Everything is clean and the housekeeping staff do a fantastic job. Likewise the restaurant staff are very professional and friendly and the waiters are excellent. At the Reception the staff are very helpful and pleasant. These are the hotels strengths.
The food however left a lot to be desired. A choice of different meat dishes or fish dishes, with soggy vegetables which never seemed to be hot enough and looked as though they had come from tins. The main vegetable dish seems to involve egg plant which can be tasty but seldom was. The stews were not pleasant in taste and neither were the meatballs in sauce. The dishes looked appetising but were very disappointing and in the end I was having grilled chicken or pork every night (with salad from the salad bar). The salad bar was okay but nothing to write home about either. Bread rolls or sliced baguettes were also available but the bread although looking nice, was the soft, pappy type. Puddings invariably involved lots of artificial cream spread over flan type sponges, eclairs topped with cooking chocolate with a sliver of strawberry and fake cream inside or other similar cakey type puds; again not exactly very appetising. Even the breakfasts were mediocre, with croissants that tasted like long life packet ones warmed through (no flaky pastry). The food was decidedly 2 star. Montenegrin white and rose wines were not to be recommended either. The lady at the table next to ours sent hers back. The cheaper ones were probably not worth having. Try a more expensive one and keep your fingers crossed. You were allowed to buy a bottle and take it up to your room if you hadn't finished it (you can store the wine in the fridge there). Then you could bring it down for the next meal
Furthermore, whilst there two weddings were held at the hotel. The first took over the dining room for the whole of our first night and morning. This meant the first meal we had was out in the open next to the pool. As the food was never hot, being outdoors meant it was barely warm. The next day breakfast was downstairs in a basement area called the Taverna, again not a great place to eat. The second wedding was held on our penultimate day when the whole of the outdoor pool area was closed to guests. A note was put up in the lifts to let everyone know that they couldn't use the pool the following day and as a concession the beach area which the hotel owned was to be made free to guests (normally it would cost 5 Euros per day). This was okay for us who could manage the 50 steps down to the beach but for some of the older guests this was probably not a great option.
The evening entertainment was quite good, but it could be a bit samey if you had the same person two nights running and they were doing the same songs the second night.
One final bit of advice. Whilst there we signed up to the Boka Bay trip which was a lovely day out on a boat (food again uninspiring). The Guide employed by the boat was useless, she did a commentary in French for each area of interest and then she would wait and eventually come out with a brief English blurb which was a) too late as we had passed the landmark and b) about half as long as the French one. The coach Guide was far better and when we stopped at a small island she came ashore and did a very interesting commentary. The Tour of Montenegro however was more highly recommended out of the two (some of the guests went on both and said the Tour was the better option).
So, to summarise. It's a great place to visit. The Montenegrins are very friendly and accommodating and have great pride in their country. The Queen is a lovely hotel with great facilities, but if you like good food don't come here.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms were good but there is quite a bit of building work going on, so that kind of mars th...
