I have spent a good part of my life in South Africa and I will make this pilgramage to Table Mountain as often as I can. It is a wonderful place. I jokingly tell my friends that you never visit the mountain once. It will always pull you back. Spent the night on Dec 31 1999 on top of it (well, on Devil's Peak) can't imagine a more magical place to have spent the millennium. My kids loved it (a good jogging stroller works better that the umbrella type) and my in-laws loved it. How many attractions can you say *that* about?

I was amazed at the number of paths across the top of the mountain. You could walk as much or as little as you were able too. The weather was perfect when we were there so you could see for miles.

A clear day on Table Mountain is an opportunity to experience some stunning scenery; unfortunately it can be a rare occurrence. The tablecloth is a dense cloud cover that settles atop the mountain and makes walking very dangerous. My wife and I had a clear day. Cape Town flows into the ocean at your feet. There is a small mammal called a hyrax that lives there; it is about the size of a rabbit, but its' closest relative is the elephant. Be sure to walk along the paths and see as much as you can; it's worth the trip.

Food was too expensive, but that's too be expected. Restaurant is small, but warm atmosphere. There were long lines for drinks and coffee.

Taking the cable cars to the top of Table mountain is a must when visiting Cape Town - assuming it is a clear day and you will be able to see the view.
