We did a full day tour from Chiang Mai costing 1200 THB each including lunch & all entry fees & although the weather was fine during our visit to the 2 waterfalls by the time we got higher the conditions had worsened with wind, rain, mist & 14°C temps so with poor visibilty the great views we were expecting didn't exist... we did check the alpine forecast the day before which predicted good conditions but they didn't eventuate so we were pleased we'd taken some warm clothing...the gardens were not as tidy/beautiful as the promotional photos depicted...during this time of the year it's anyones guess what the weather will be like at the summit so go prepared.

When you come to Chiangmai, you have to visit the national park. The park is located more than 2000m above sea level. It is the highest point in north of Thailand. The temperature is around 15 degree celsius. The place has a small waterfall and bascially its a rainforest.

Day trip from Chiangmai. Such an interesting place. Multiple places to stop along the way, beautiful temples and views from the top. Take an extra layer- can feel quite chilly at the top compared to humid and sticky Chiangmai!

We book a private tour from Chiang Mai. It was cool but sunny day at the hill top, but was very hot downhill (37 oC in March). Beautiful park and temple. On the way back, we visit 3 waterfalls and stop at local market to buy dried fruit. Cheapest price!

This is a gorgeous pair of pagodas with a gorgeous surrounding garden. The climate here is also much more comfortable because it is at a a thousand feet + higher than Chiang Mai.
The garden is meticulously maintained and in and of itself is worth the trip. The pagodas are beautiful and have the story of Budha inscribed within (in english and in thai).
These are relatively accessible Pagoda's - there are two escalators - there are about 100 steps to each pagoda.
