“Great for a girls group”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

8 of us (all Mums looking for a break) booked into the Terra Homestead for a book club weekend. Lots of room with four bed rooms and two big lounge rooms and large sliding glass doors opening on to a covered outdoor BBQ area. We drank lots of wine and chilled out for a couple of days without the kids. The cost was better than many the other Hunter cottages. Great comfy beds with good linen sheets. Kitchen was adequate but we tried to eat out as much as possible. Lots of restaurants in the Hunter and we got picked up by a shuttle bus to Harrigans Irish pub, where I been before. We also booked a full day wine tour with Bradley, who we got off the lodge's web site. He made our day with lots of great jokes and a good selection of wineries. Caretakers next door looked after the keys but they left us in peace for the weekend.

We just returned from a weekend at the Lovedale Lodge. Our weekend away was to see Bruce Springsteen and eat and drink the fine cuisine of the Hunter Valley. We stayed at the Lovedale Lodge Carradano Cottage. Thie cottage is a 3 bedroom hexagonal shaped building that has 1 bathroom to share. It also has a good size kitchen and an outdoor BBQ area.
The cottage is large with a good size living area. The 3 bedrooms are off the living area, as is the bathroom. The kitchen is part of the open plan living area.
We were a group of 6 and the size of the cottage was right. It was basic but had adequate furnishings to be comfortable. The rule of the kitchen is to make sure all the plates, cutlery etc are cleaned before departure and the garbage removed. Unfortunately the idea of cleaning in some peoples view is a bit different to ours. We had to clean some of the cutlery and utensils as they were dirty and greasy. The BBQ was also dirty and there was no BBQ utensils so we had to use a plastic scraper from the kitchen that did not take kindly to the hear. It appears previous occupants also used this utensil for the same reason as it was only half its normal size.
The bathroom was clean and comes with a massive spa bath. Clean towels and linen was also provided. The pillows could have been bigger and more firm. There is an old AC unit in the living area that would struggle on a very hot day. Ceilings fans are also located in the living area and each bedroom.
The cottage was only really needed for the night time as we were out and about through the day. So for that it served its purpose. But it could be better. It is located on a farm at the end of Londons Road and maybe better outdoor facilities could be installed to enjoy the open space.
Would we stay there again? Probably. But only for a weekend stay.

Thank you for taking the time to write an informative review. We are delighted you may return to our historic cottage - the original Lovedale Lodge. And so sorry the bbq utensils were not there. They will be next time.
