“Excellent Accommodation, lovely grounds.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

We were attending a wedding in the Hunter Valley and as this is just a tad too far from Sydney to drive home at 11pm we elected to stay overnight. Accommodation is expensive, but we cut our costs by sharing a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa with another couple that we knew were also attending the wedding. The accommodation was excellent with a kitchen, spacious living room with TV, 2 bedrooms and main and ensuite bathrooms, all with great views over the golf course. Lunch in the bar area was good value (although the young lady taking our meal order could have actually looked us in the eye and smiled), but we decided to give the full buffet breakfast at $38 per person (continental breakfast available for $28 per person) a miss as we felt this was just a tad expensive. We found a great cafe near one of the wineries and grabbed a grabbed a hot breakky for approx $20 a head. All in all, I would go back and stay again.

Room Tip: We ended up in a wheelchair accessible room, although we didn't request or need it. All good ex...

This is the 4th year in a row I have stayed in this hotel. The service has definitely improved over the years - especially with check in and check out. It's convenient location off of Wine Country Drive allows you to quickly get to Cessnock or to various wineries. This year we stayed in the back of the property in a 2 bedroom villa and loved it. We loved that you could drive out the back and not have to drive through the entire hotel property.

Food was good at the restaurants. But our favourite was the breakfast buffet which was very massive. I ate a made to order omelette every day and enjoyed the fruit bar. We loved that the coffee machine has been moved out to the buffet area and you can go and order at the coffee bar. This is a better feature than in previous years. We also ate at the restaurant downstairs. Their steak dinner was really good. Food was pretty fast although we noticed friends of ours who came after us received their dinner before we did. Annoying when you are starving.

We had a few problems with our villa. The TV didn't have any digital channels and we had to call someone to the room. We also asked the cleaners to come back in an hour - which they agreed to- and they never cleaned our room that day. We had to ask for towels that night.

The cosmetics of the hotel are showing a little wear. Our villa this year had an obviously scuffed/marked mirror that needed replacing. I also noticed a few other minor issues regarding cleaning etc...

Overall this is a great place to stay and has an expansive property. The villas are a great place to stay with friends. I've stayed in both 2 and 3 bedroom villas.

TIP - charge everything to your room since when you use your credit card in the restaurant they charge you a service fee. A bit excessive considering the food is a bit overpriced.

Room Tip: Ask for a villa facing the pond. It's really beautiful.

Hi healthluvsing

Thank you for taking the time to write your comments from your recent stay with us.

I am so pleased to read that this is the 4th time you have stayed with us and that the service has improved over this time.

Your comments regarding the breakfast in Redsalt are appreciated. We do cater for all tastes in our restaurant and the egg station is always a big favourite with guests.

I take on board your comments regarding the villa and I have spoken personally with the maintenance department regarding these issues.

Once again, thanks so much for taking the time to respond and I look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Kindest regards

The Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley is a great hotel in a great location. Big hotel with a great golf course. It is close to Broke Road.
Food and bars good.
Service great.
Brekky awesome.
Rooms are standard as are bathrooms.
Busy car park.
No iphone charger..just an old radio.
Peterson's winery is a short walk so no driving !!

Room Tip: Get a room near the tennis court.

Could not believe how big this hotel is. The room was excellent and better than expected. The staff were great. Dinner at the Red Salt restaurant was expensive, but could not fault the service or the food. This hotel is right at the doorstep the the main Hunter Valley wineries, you will not find a better location to stay. My wife and I will be back.

Room Tip: Go for the apartments, you will not be disappointed.

We visited here for my birthday with our 3 older children . Lovely large villa - quite modern . Good facilities for the children but the pool was advertised as heated and it wasn't this was a negative for our family . The staff were very average for a hotel this size and for the cost it was well below what we are used to . Buffet breakfast was lovely but very expensive and we were rushed as there was no table when we arrived and we had to wait , then they started packing up to finish service - disappointing. I feel it was overpriced for nothing special .

spent two nights recently at crowne plaza, over the lovedale long lunch weekend. have stayed there before a few times, and it never disappoints, there is some building work on the lawn out beside the pool area, which will be interesting to see how that turns out, as it was a lovely outlook from the rooms facing that way, watch this space I suppose. food is good, service good, and there is a shuttle for other restaurants of an evening which is a good idea, there are many good places to stay up in the vineyards, this is one of them.

Room Tip: away from the main entrance
