Set in a wonderful location amongst the vineyards of the Hunter Valley, we booked a 2 bedroom villa ( 4 adults sharing) to cut down the cost.. Ideally located for wine tasting. Fantastic rooms.. but it isn't cheap hence the 3 star rating.. Breakfast is good but not included in the price and the wait for coffee in there is ridiculous really. Would stay there again if breakfast was included and quicker service for coffee is better. ( over 15 mins).

Stayed here in a 3 bedroom Villa with 2 other mates for our 50th.
The pluses:
Right on the Hunter Valley gold course, and we loved the course, more than Cyprus and Vintage that we played, as it was a nicer/easier way around.... the other 2 were punishing, and therefore less enjoyable for a weekend hacker!
The accommodation itself was great, just what we needed, 3 good sized bedrooms, a kitchen, TV, nice bathrooms... fluffy white towels... was quiet at night, and heating kept us warm, as it was freezing..
Living Room a good size too..
The Lovedale brewery was cosy, the food was great (pizza was yummy at least) and the dark beer was very nice, but didnt like the perfumey other ones much... also nice and warm, and lots of different seating options... also meant could have a drink, and not drive anywhere.... self contained really...
table tennis tables, pool table, huge pool, and donkey kong/galaga machine were fun..
Staff could be a bit friendlier, especially in a tourist area...
The Negatives
TV reception on some channels snowy, and most cut off, so couldnt read any text on bottom or left and right...
Luckily the Wifi was free as my mate had some club status, but it was pretty bad, and would have asked for a refund if we had have paid! Only just works really... definitely needs an upgrade
Breakfast was not included, and should be, for the prices they charge... am not paying an extra $33 a head for breakfast, thanks. the italian restaurant in the pokolbin village did a great fry up.
Maintenance attention to details:
The front door latch was so stiff, you had to slam the door, literally sounding like it would come off the hinges
They had a sign saying conserve water in the shower, but switching between bath and shower, always left both running, and a complete waste of water if you are only showering..
Small things, but that's what you notice.
Would I stay there again? Yes, if I wanted to combine golf and a stay again...

Spent a long weekend with friends.Noted some unhappy reviews during July so went in with an open mind. More than impressed with the dinning options and service.Enjoyed the pub and fine dinning alike. A game of golf , visits to the wine region a great central location to base yourself for a Hunter Valley experience. Certainly ate well , with good service and reasonable prices. A friendly environment with a country feel about it. You can do a lot at Crowne or nothing , eat in or eat out. Very pleased with our weekend at Crowne.

Room Tip: Pick a top level room facing the car park. There is construction going on at the back of the hotel s...

We have now stayed here twice and have been more than happy on both occasions. It's conveniently located close to many restaurants and wineries. Because of which we haven't actually tried the hotel's restaurant. The room is comfortable and clean. Plenty of parking available but some are a bit of a walk away. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to staying here again soon.

We stayed here with a group of friends in a few of the three bedroom villas, we all loved our stay, the rooms were really clean , spacious and modern and the beds were comfortable, the hotel had great facilities, the day spa was great, dinner at red salt restaurant was impressive and the pool looked amazing! There was lots of space and even had a volley ball area and large chess set and some kids rides! We booked early and got an amazing rate and will definitely be back. The staff were very helpful and friendly too! The location was good just a short drive to the wineries and Harrigans Irish pub. Couldn't fault our stay! Can't wait to get back!

My wife and I went to the Hunter with 4 friends as part of their wedding rehearsal. Upon arriving at the hotel the mood of the place was instantly off putting. Concierge and all reception staff were very curt and unhelpful and the whole checking in process was handled in a way that we felt we were an inconvenience to them by staying at their hotel. Once given our room (268) we got there to find that out of the window was a view of what appeared to be a part constructed Bunnings Warehouse, literally meters from the window - no warning of this or mention was made when booking or checking in.
This set the tone for the whole weekend. After a very unsuccessful day around the Hunter (a separate post) we returned to the hotel and booked a taxi via the hotels front desk to take us all to dinner. The taxi was booked for 630pm and by 815pm it still had not arrived. We went back to the front desk and concierge numerous times and was repeatedly fobbed off with "its busy" or "another 10 minutes" or "you're next". It was glaringly obvious that they had not booked the taxi or that other guests took it instead as we saw 11 taxis collect outside our hotel while we waited and guests got in them and left. The front desk couldnt of cared less and continued to fob us off and make us feel like we were again being an inconvenience to them with comments like "you know its saturday dont you? - its busy!"
I could and would happily name names of staff but finally after the bride to be went and complained for the 10th time the guy at concierge got the hotel bus and took us to dinner - which we were late for. We couldnt wait to check out on sunday morning and did not hang about to WASTE another $33 on breakfast !
The hotel itself is very sub par, its set on a crappy golf course amongst what appears to be a housing estate and not a high end "gated community" but an extremely low end, council estate. The whole vibe of the hotel and complex was drab, downcast and pathetic. There is ZERO atmosphere at any of the restaurants or bars on site and I can honestly say that if Sydney wasnt a 2.5hr drive away I would of turned right around and headed straight home. The couple due to be married back in the hunter in 5 weeks are, as we speak looking for alternate accommodations for their 123 guests and having shared this weekend with them I can totally see why. I would NEVER recommend you stay at this hotel - its WAY overpriced, has delusions of grandeur and seems to think its a Four Seasons or the like when its lucky its not bracketed with the likes of a Travelodge (at least Travelodge pitches itself accordingly and doesnt sell itself as something its not - which the Crown Plaza clearly does).
In this day and age any hotel that charges for WIFI is instantly on my "do not use" list and again the Crown Plaza doesnt disappoint - from memory the cost was $25.
AVOID - literally go ANYWHERE else but here.

Room Tip: to choose a good room make sure it is in another hotel and NOT the Crown Plaza at the Hunter Valley

Dear 01UncleTraveling

Thank you for writing a review about your recent visit to our resort.

It is disappointing to hear that we have let you down on a number of occasions throughout your stay with us. We are currently investigating alternatives to overcome the taxi shortage in busy periods - which is frustrating for all involved. Our new Conference and Events Centre will be completed at the end of November this year with no work being carried out on weekends.

Please be ensured that all guest comments are shared with the team as we strive to offer a great guest experience to all of our valued guests.

Again, than you for taking the time to write this review and please accept our sincere apologies for our shortcomings.

Kindest regards

We arrived at the CP Lovedale on a sunny early afternoon over the recent school holidays. My partner and I chose this place from perusing its website. It appeared luxurious and well appointed with a much sought after health spa. As we drove up we were not overly impressed with the landscaping or the architecture of this resort. It was reminiscent of a cheap housing estate on the Villas acreage and the main building like a high quality private hospital. The rooms are well appointed and very modern and comfortable. The king bed was very comfy, the bathroom clean with a handy bathtub and quality spacious shower. The toiletries were a good quality as was the bath linen. We enjoyed some room service dinner which was quite acceptable and tasty, but object to the $5 blanket room service charge....It meant I was not tempted to leave a tip. The resort has a brewery attached which was very homey and relaxed. The lobby has an attractive seating area which really looked delightful but sadly the bar in the lobby is only open on weekend evenings. This was perplexing given that the resort seemed at full occupancy??? The staff were generally helpful and pleasant. The health spa was very good with a fabulous hot stone massage greatly enjoyed. As a couple looking for a bit of luxury, high end service, peace and serenity this place did not tick the box. If you have kids and are happy to let them run about to enjoy the myriads of leisure activities on offer, then this is for you.
